Good Luck to our Scottish Friends

As a Jock in Wales I don't get to vote and I was probably in the no camp before, but events have swayed me to the yes side

So you only made a decision based on recent events? people wanting you to stay made you change your mind to wanting to leave? I don't get that. Luckily you don't get to vote ;)

Not long left. What's everyones gut feeling on the outcome

Having moved away at the start of June I have not seen or heard a huge amount about how it is looking. What will be the general feeling in Scotland though which ever way it goes? Will the people for it be up in arms if they do not the result they wanted? Will they call for another vote to be made? If they do get independence what is going to be the long term structuring for making the transition to being self sufficient?

I think it is mor to do with if Scotland want independence and be self sufficient then they can't expect to still have westminster supporting their armed forces. You either want to be british or Scottish, you can't have the best of both worlds.

Try telling Alex Salmond that! He wants the cake, the icing and the decorations without having to share with anyone.

Only one certainty about it and that is whatever way the vote goes it will create a divided Nation. Sad really, maybe there should have been a minimum 75% majority with a Yes vote to create a suitable mandate.

politics and Religion are 2 subjects i don't speak about normally but i voted NO. Not one question was answered with a solid answer .by Salmond and his motley crew

We will all accept the democratic rights of the vote, get on with it and make the best of it.

Having just spent a few days walking in England, read some of the English papers and watched some of the regional TV news I wonder why folk living there can just accept such poor standards of reporting. The majority just did not got a clue about the process and how it will effect rUK.
If some of the stupid remarks I read and heard were the norm. I can now understand why there have been a fair number of totally ignorant postings on the Scotland Thread.

Pub/Walking conversations were much more enlightening and I was pleasantly surprised how understanding and knowledgeable my fellow walkers were about the referendum.

BTW my Scots Scroats were accepted warmly in all establishments I visited.

I'm not going to suggest I've got a full understanding of the issues, but I've just had the impression through all of this that it was more about Alex Salmond securing Alex Salmond's place in history than what was necessarily best for Scotland or the Union.

You have certainly contributed to a fair amount of them

And no one knows exactly how it will effect the UK as yet just as know one knows exactly what will happen to Scotland - anything else is pure guess work

Phil.....as an 'ordinary' English bloke do you think the promises made to Scotland by the three London Leaders will be met if there is a No vote?

I have no doubt in my mind that the promised promises will have no chance whatsoever of winning a Westminster vote.
2016 could see a Boris/Farage coalition government and they both hate Scotland. They will just ignore the previous leaders promises.

First off i believe that in bold will never happen

And second - when has any politican ever looked after anyone but themselves.

Will Scotland get more powers if there is a No vote - Yes i believe they will because they know that Scotland will be key during the next GE and there is no way any leader will go back on what has been promised because it would be political suicide.

At the end of the day if Scotland vote yes - you will still have politicians making the calls - they will decide how to run things and you will gain yourself a Scottish Westminster - who will also look after themselves first - do you really thin Scotland have politicians that are different to the rest of the world.

Why do you say "they hate Scotland" That's an odd thing to say!

If there is a 'Yes' vote do you think Alex will live up to his promises?

Previous YouGov survey shows it is 54% in favour of NO, it really is going to be a close run thing. When I lived there for 5 1/2 years you would hear people talking about it and it was always more or less split down the middle regarding it.

Quick question and apologies if this seems really dumb but is it purely a straight count and so hypothetically can it be won one way or the other by a single vote (yes I know there will be loads of recounts but you get the drift?)

Was in Brum last week for a trade show and was blown away by the amount of people coming on to our stand and asking what was going to happen/what did we want to happen/how did we feel/would it affect our pricing/the impression was a lot of worry and concern.Don't know what's going to happen but 90% of our business is outwith Scotland, don't know whether to be worried or not!
Oh,well what will be will be,only hope peace will break out on Friday and some sense will come in to play as there seems to have been a lot of ill feeling and animosity generated. Not a nice way to behave or watch!
