Good end to the season for me!

Well done Karen superb season , really enjoyed your exploits in the Scottish Ladies (I think)

What do you think was the reason for such a good season ? hard work ?

was there a Eureka or turning point at any stage or just a year long plan/hard graft ?

My worst season in a while, few qualifiers left but looks like 1st year in a while I will end up with higher exact handicap than I started , don't deserve anything in fairness as didn't do any work on my game

I had an idea of the big weakness in my game, which was poor ball striking especially with mid and long irons so took a series of lessons over last winter to try and fix it. We made two big changes, firstly strengthening my grip which had been terribly weak and secondly changing my swing plane.

I then spent a lot of time at the range to try and get used to that and I've played or practised constantly all year.

My good and average shots are now much better. The problem I've got is my bad shot is now a big miss left. When I start hitting that shot confidence goes and the swing quickly falls apart so I need to work this winter to try and eliminate that.

I practice putting constantly at home and hope to do more on an actual putting green next year. It's pretty clear now that I need to putt well to score well and good putting can compensate for a bad ball striking day.

Lastly, my mindset has changed. I no longer start a round thinking about my handicap and how to play to it. Every round now I want to score as low as possible, I'm thinking pars and birdies and don't get distracted even if I have a good or bad start - I'm not thinking where I am relative to handicap.

That is a spot on attitude and one everyone should look to try and follow.

Great Insight , thanks.. good luck with this years work

well done. You should be proud of yersel, that's good shootin by any measure.

Well done Kaz, great year could be some big occasions ahead next year, can't be too many lower ladies in Scotland

There's loads, Kenny, and plenty of far better players than me. :) There's events I'm either not low enough to enter or would likely get balloted out of. I think even with this cut I'm still the highest handicap in the county team.

I'm still improving though! ;)

Really enjoyed reading about your exploits this year Karen (if I may call you that?)
As someone well into "lifes back nine" and as keen now as I ever was but getting shorter and shorter I am in awe of your years golf and also the modest way you write about.
Have a good winter season and best wishes for the future.
