With Guildford being my home club I am well used to having my eyes open for walkers and dogs popping out of nowhere!

I will attempt to work my way round the course in what looks like the right way. Guarantee I will hit it the wrong way and make the holes harder for myself!

Guildford (my home town) isnt as bad as Bude for folk popping out of nowhere!

|I remember it well, another family was a member there and I played it a few times.

Like me he moved to the West Country and joined Lyme Regis with the same problems.
 
Started the season playing well and thought I was on the verge of really playing the way I could reasonably expect to but injury and work got in the way and I started to fade away and lost some power. I worked out what was wrong and went to the range and improved dramatically and then did it on the course, shooting a 79 then went on holiday fully expecting to be back to square one, however I've played twice since coming back and shot 79 again and was on the way to something the same today before rain stopped play. Striking the irons well and driving longer and with a slight draw so I'm well happy.😃
 
The youth did a couple of days volunteering at the DPWT Q School event at Huddersfield this week, (I'm sure he didn't miss owt important i his 1st week back at school) - was checking the results earlier as one of the young lads I've know for a good few years was playing there - Habib was sat in T14th with a few players still out on the course - as scores were only getting updated as rounds are completed and a top 16 place needed to progress to stage 2 - it was great to see him move up to T12 with all the players in the clubhouse. The kid works incredibly hard - so he and his dad will be very happy tonight.

How old is your son? What did his head teacher say when you asked to pull him out of school to go watch golf?

He's 33.

The head was a bit annoyed that his Geography teacher didn't show up for work tbh.... :ROFLMAO:



I'm joking obvs.
Jamie is 15, I couldn't ask as it was on his 1st day back, and the school had been closed for the summer holidays. The school knows he wants to work in the golf industry, so I suspect that they don't have an issue with it. If nothing else it's a little something he can put on his CV when he starts applying for weekend work in the local pro's shops I guess.
 
My place is recovering well from the thorough going over it got last week in the autumn maintenance programme - even though the weather made things difficult for the greens team.

As today is BIGGAs annual Thank A Greenkeeper Day I sent my own thanks into the club a couple of days ago. The club has coordinated our feedback to be passed to the team today.

btw - I also make a point of thanking the guys whenever I bump into them on and off the course. It's the passion that they have for both the job and the course that enables us members to enjoy our lovely track to the full.
