Golf Things That Gladden The Heart

Should have been playing an open at Royal North Devon on Sunday. Got an email to say due to weather that they are cancelling the competition and our money will be refunded. As we are already down there for the weekend I asked if they would honour our entry fee and allow us to get out and play in the rain.

Club secretary has responded to say that the fee will be refunded and we are welcome to come and play RND for no charge and to arrive from 9am to get out before the bulk of the bad weather rocks up. Fantastic service for a club full of history in my opinion

That's class!

I have been having a clear out of all my no longer wanted or needed golf clubs so far raised over £300.
Now I just need to keep saying to myself - " I do not need any more golf clubs" :ROFLMAO:

19.6 in May, down to 16.4 this week. 3.2 reduction in less than 4 months. Not bad for an old git.:)
Very good, I've gone form 23 in Jan to 14.8 today!
Always hovered around 23 since I started playing in 2021, had monthly lessons from October to March and since then my game has improved massively. Only had 1 lesson since March but going to do the same monthly lessons from October until the spring and see if I can get to single digits next year.

Let us know how you get on today.

Let us know how you get on today.

Got out just before 9 as a two ball. Managed to get to 16 before the heavens opened up. Strong wind throughout but always an enjoyable round at RND.

Was soaked once finished thankful I didn't go out later as the weather was horrid for the afternoon

One of the lads that plays and works at our club has just landed a Ping deal. Listening to his dad talk me through the whole experience late on Saturday evening was great - hopefully it helps him push on and get a few more percentages out of his game.
He's got through Stage 1 of DPWT Q school so a bag full of new custom built bats has come just at the right time hopefully.

Ping are very good at supporting aspiring Pros

My coach is a blooming genius. Lesson today, I've been playing poorly last couple of weeks, after my best comp round of the season.

Three swings, he said, "stop slouching, your take away is too much inside, and you are spinning, rather than transferring your weight properly. "

Boom. Flushing it. (For me!) I said, I bet you could have phoned me and said that without looking!

Absolutely, he replied. 🤣🤣🤣

Played on Sunday, just a casual 9 holes, first time in ages…4 or 5 weeks at least. Tee to green I wasn’t v good.

But I had the best putting display ever…I think I only putted 13 times in 9 holes. And as it was a casual round I dropped a couple of balls and practiced from the edges of the greens after I had already finished the hole with my ‘real ball’.

Sank - or got to tap-in range with pretty much all of those too

V pleasing 😃

Edit: the secret must be to not really care whatsoever 🤣
