Played Little Aston today. Jacket and tie required in the bar and dining room after 12:30pm every day. Only place that is exempt is the casual bar.

Fantastic year you've had. What do you think is the most significant change you made that's led to this? I know you were doing the speed stuff but you were already hitting it pretty long when I played with you in 2023.This post covers a few different topics but ultimately the best place for it is here.
I played The Bedfordshire yesterday with a friend of mine, we decided to play off the black tees which unbelievably gave me a playing handicap of 14.
I was losing an 11.2 differential and was thinking that it was likely to be a small handicap rise coming up.
First hole; fairway and green in regulation and I sunk a monster putt for birdie and suddenly everything just felt great.
4 over at the turn, which should have been better in all honesty. Back nine continued in a similar fashion, had some decent birdie looks but ultimately didn't make another one, got to the last hole 7 over. Pulled my tee shot left, played a decent 2nd shot to get back into play leaving a bump and run into the pin. Annoyingly I struck it too well and it had too much spin and finished 30 foot short. Made an annoying 3 putt for a double bogey but ultimately a 9 over 79.
A differential of 6.2 and I woke up this morning as a single figure golfer!
Definitely not solely speed related but it's absolutely helped. The main thing for me is the work I've put in with Liam Robinson's Tour Golf Network drills, it's massively improved the quality of my strike and getting my weight shift right in the swing.Fantastic year you've had. I love the thought of some old chap sauntering up and casually dropping in the fact that he won the Brabazon.I was hosted there in the summer. Lovely place to play.
I was approached by an old chap who spotted my Saunton shirt.
He asked how it was there then mentioned he won the Brabazon Trophy at Saunton, in 1963!! I smiled and mentioned was born that year!

Either that or he was with the fairies. He was so nonchalant, and quite modest. I assume he's won plenty so it was normal!
Maybe he won the Saunton Trophy round the Brabazon?Either that or he was with the fairies.
1963 Brabazon was at Birkdale and was won by Scottish golfer Ron Shade.
Ron Shade won it again at Saunton in 1967.
He won the Scottish Amateur each year from 1963 to 1967 (matchplay) and the 1968 Scottish Amateur strokeplay and then turned professional at age 30.
He died in 1986.

That's a bit meanWell done getting your handicap down to 10! Next goal for you has got to be getting to single figures! Not far off, one good round will get you there

Haha. I've had this debate so many times that I don't know where I stand anymore. In the old system I agreed with you, 9.4 or lower would be single figures. Because it was always rounded up or down from that number no matter what course you were at, so you'd have to be 9.4 to receive 9 shots on the course. But in the new system, it's so fluid I don't know anymore. For example, if you got down to 10.5 at my course, you'd have a course handicap of 9 off the whites. So as that's your home course you could argue you're off single figures then? Perversely you could be off 9.0 but have a course handicap of 11 at a tough course, so you're a single handicapper who plays off 11? The waters are very muddy on this.Well done getting your handicap down to 10! Next goal for you has got to be getting to single figures! Not far off, one good round will get you there
Dean is single figures in my eyes, for exactly your reasoning. Single figures = less than 10, as the rounding is irrelevant as it could go either way. So well done Deano I hope I can join you in the near futureHaha. I've had this debate so many times that I don't know where I stand anymore. I would say it's worth a new thread but I think there's been one, and it may even have been me that started it.
If you have a couple of general play cards on your record, are you a true single figure handicapper?Haha. I've had this debate so many times that I don't know where I stand anymore.
