Really getting into my practice again

Had a spare couple hours

Took the shag bag down and hit about 20 wedged to warm up

Then did a few diff virtual holes on top tracer

Finish off back on the chipping green trying some really short chips

Delightful way to spend the morning

Roll on my round Thursday

You do realise that you will play worse the better the practice goes? ;)

Our club captain is 73 years old and has been struggling with the amount of golf required of him..

He shot 46 points, gross 73 (yes, his age!!), in a stableford yesterday. And he hasn’t broken 80 in his entire history on EG…

Remarkable and rather heart warming 👏

Now he’s had a massive cut, I need to think about arranging my captain pro match

After a good showing in the seniors county championships a couple of weeks ago I have been selected to play in the team. I think I might be nervous on the 1st tee 😬. I’m still playing scratch team golf for my club so I should be ok and shouldn’t make a fool of myself. 🤞
Played my first match and done ok. Half in the morning but probably should have won, and won my singles in the afternoon. 😁

Think I’ll go watch a special Captain/Pro Challenge match this afternoon.

The Gents Captain is paired with Lottie Woad against our Ladies Captain paired with our Pro In a 4BBB challenge. Always worth taking the opportunity to watch the World’s #1 Lady amateur of her age, and one of the world’s very best lady amateurs full stop, in a competitive match. Lottie is just from Finland where she superbly led the way for England Ladies to the final of the European Ladies team championships - though they lost to Spain.

Speaking with our pro earlier he says he has to be completely on top of his game to hold Lottie in the pairings 😊. should be interesting watching Lottie especially her short game shot selection and execution. Her long game is obviously superb, but from 150yds in, and around the green, she is awesome. Her CH off the ladies back tees is +7, though I suspect she’ll play off scratch off the gents back tees.

'Won' a cobra 3w in the Open draw last night (draw a pro out the pot and lowest Sunday score wins the club)
Not latest model but still brand new and a good use of clearing old stock, will take it out for a spin tomorrow

Just an update on this.

Was a great match. Both Captains played really well and pro and Lottie both shot 3 under gross (both playing off gents back tees). Pro shot 6 birdies to Lottie‘s 4, but pro was more prone to making little mistakes and shot a double on our par 3 15th, Lottie didn’t make many mistakes at all, and when she did she recovered for her par on all but one occasion. They were very competitive…pupil determined to beat teacher, and teacher determined to try and stop her 😊

Lottie and Gents Captain were 1up playing the last, when after a little bit of good natured finagling, our pro holed a 30ftr to win hole and half the match (though afterwards as good natured as the match was Lottie couldn’t help her highly competitive nature not so gently pointing out her coach’s slightly dodgy birdie on the last 😘).

Great watch and great fun.

Three bids on my TM Spider (slightly failed experiment) - at this rate I might make back what I paid for it. 😄 People really like those things don't they?

They're a stable and reliable putter. Always hold a good resell value. Have you just not got on with it?

I've lived here 8 years and only just recently realised how many of the roads around my area seem to be named after golf courses. We have a Prestwick Road, Muirfield Road, Hoylake Gardens, Gleneagles Close all next to each other. Also an Ashridge Drive and others which I had to Google but apparently there are golf courses for: Liphook and Heysham for example. Too many for it to be a coincidence!

Heysham isn't too far from me - very rogue choice amongst some of the other names mentioned though!

Got nothing on this town in Texas, which seems obsessed with football league clubs? 😂
