Golf targets for 2012

As a case in point, I went to the GM Centenary day at St Pierre with one goal. Not to make a fool of myself and given the way I'd been playing that was a pretty big ask in itself. Rocked up, had a great draw with Sawtooth and Barham Blue and just went out to have fun. Did ok but assumed I'd be well short and lo I qualified. Did the same at the FoA. No pressure and with Billysboots taking the proverbial, not a lot of chance of taking anything too seriously. Relaxed and did well.

It begs the question why is it I can relax and have a laugh in roll ups at my club but can't reproduce the form? It does prove however that the less you worry about the outcome the more likely you are to release the iner golfer and actually play the game you are capable of. Just a question of doing it on demand thats the issue

you answered you own question, its all in the mind

Nothing too ambitious for me ;)

* Get handicap comfortably into single figures
* Break 70, or at least give it a few good scares
* Help club team get promoted to Div 1
* Win club championship!!!

Nae bother!

I'm getting to Category 1 next year damn it. I don't care how unrealistic that sounds, it's going to happen. I'll quote this post at some point next year once it's achieved.

After a truly awful year this year, during which I have gone up from 9.1 to 10.5, my aim is to return to enjoying my golf and if that brings with it a handicap reduction then so be it. I put far too much pressure on myself from the start of the year to get cut that my golf went to pot.

same with me. i went up from 10.9 to 11.1. my realistic goal is to play 10 new courses

Last year I gave myself an easy target of getting to Cat 2, which only requried a cut of 0.6.

For 2012 I'm going to be more ambitious and go for a handicap of 10 and if I can do this by end of July then I'll revise the target to single figures.

2012 goals - Get handicap down to 10, Retain club Div 2 trophy. But the biggest wish is to a ball out of a greenside bunker on the green in one shot (or is that just to much to wish for???)

Goal for me is to get the handicap down to single figures and if a prize or two comes along the way thats a bonus.
Play some new courses.
A trip to the range with the lad for his 3rd birthday.

Good luck everyone with there goals!!!

Hopefuly down to 8 or 7, nearly got to 8 this year & it was a lazy year practice wise , lowest H'cap ever was 8.1 so it would be nice to get below that .. couple of short game lessons before qualifiers start & hopefuly hopefuly hopefuly ...

My 2012 targets:

1. Play more ;)
2. Become consistent with the big dog.
3. Get back to 8 with this swing rebuild thingy.

Update!

1. Played yesterday and may play tomorrow!
2. Hit every fairway apart from 1 yesterday with the driver!
3. Shot 79 around Hindhead off the whites!

Marvellous!

For years my traget was Category 2, as i thought single figures was too ambitious. This year something has clicked, and I have made it to the heady low of 10.3. So my target for 2012 is naturally the elusive 9.4. Hopefully we will both make it!

Hoping to get down to 16 this coming season. Have been pretty steady this year and have a couple of lessons booked for January, so hoping to keep the swing going through the winter and hit the ground running in April.

My main aim for 2012 will be to play in as many comps as I can and get the handicap down as much as possible at the same time. I'd like to get down to 16 ideally and have every intention of getting there by the end of the season. My game feels a lot better now than it did at the start of the summer so here's hoping I can come out of the blocks flying. I also plan on playing at least 5 course I haven't played before. Cannot wait for those long summer evenings to return!!!!

I'm not going to set myself a specific handicap target, did that for 2010 and spent more time chasing phantoms than enjoying the golf. didn't bother to set one last year but have finished lower than I started the year, not the lowest I got to but still lower.
however, I want, no need, to putt better - so I will have to find someone who can teach me, doesn't charge the earth and has decent facilities - not as easy as it should be
