Golf Random Irritations

Have you checked that? I’ve got the same email, but I can’t see anywhere that is says I must take option 1 or 2.

Looks to me like you choose neither and just carry on.🤷‍♂️
You could right but I'd have thought they'd have included that as an option....
The email just gives the 2 options.....an even bigger PITA....

I took out a 3 year membership that doesn’t run out until Oct 28 and there’s no mention of that stopping.

I’ll ignore it and see what happens.😵‍💫

Again though, no comment about how it improves scores or ability to hit a good shot.

It’s all about the obsession with slow play.🤷‍♂️

Obviously 40 x 3 Balls (120 players) would be quicker than 40 x 4 Balls (160 players) as you’ve got 40 extra players on the course.

The big difference was the tee times would need to be extended by 1hr 50 minutes to get the 160 players around in 3 Balls.

Sticking with 120 entering the comp.

Comp starts at 07:00hrs - 40 x 3 Ball slots at 10 min intervals last tee off is 13:30 - Avg 3:30 round, finish time approx 5pm

Comp starts at 07:00hrs - 30 x 4 Ball slots at 10 min intervals last tee off is 11:50, Avg 4:00 round, finish time approx 4pm.

I’m sure if the study proving 3Ball is better is on here, I’ll let you provide the link.👍🏻

Sorry I made a typo in my post which was confusing.

40 x 3 ball slots can go off 8 min intervals and last group finishes earlier.

30 x 4 ball slots will back up the course eventually off 8 minute intervals, you probably need 10 as you suggested and even then need some starting gaps to ease inevitable congestion.

There was some analysis from the US on this, but I don’t care enough to look for it. I actually don’t know why I’m posting this I’m happy to move on 😂

Connecting flight landed at home airport from Amsterdam. Golf bag quickly through the oversize collection. The carousel for the travel bag filled and then emptied with no sign of my item.Asked at lost luggage and the bag code established that it had definitely arrived. As I was mooching my way grumpily to have a last look on the Amsterdam carousel, I spotted it on the carousel from Heathrow! The lost bags lady insisted that this was impossible. The joys of travel.
Ps I was once on my way to Helsinki from Heathrow and check in strapped a LIS label to my bag - I gently pointed out that Lisbon was not my destination.

Weather on Friday when I'm in the office? 25°, sunny. On Sunday when in playing golf? Rain.
The law of Sod in full flow.

Will there ever be an end to the strong wind? It seems to be windy most days, I’m sure this is a relatively new thing, I don’t recall it always being so windy?

Mate, the wind has been a joke for 3 or 4 weeks off and on. Weekend just gone was first time in ages I played without 25+mph gusts, but now they're back with a vengeance.

I'm fine with wind, and light rain. Same for everybody and it just adds another element of challenge to the game.

When it's hacking it down and you can't keep anything dry though, no thanks.

Nah, I hate the wind. Give me a bit of rain over 30mph winds every time. Strong winds just make it impossible for me to play any decent golf.

I’m talking the last couple of years I think. Reckon we notice it more being golfers, but even my wife comments on it now.

The weather forecast here is saying temperatures of around 20° but ‘feels like’ 14° due to the wind.

@Mel Smooth I actually quite like playing in the wind sometimes, a different challenge, but I’ve had enough now!

It's mental today, I'm up in London at my office, but my weather app says gusts up to 39mph! What on earth? It's nearly May!

You must have had it worse down there than here in northern England - it's been breezy and it's blowing about 16mph today but nothing that would adversely affect a round too much.

I’m in the midlands, winds of around 20mph and gusts up to 37mph apparently. Just a normal day lately.
