Depends on the rules/common practice at the Club.

But, surely Comp times are comp only and any gaps on the sheet are fair game....

People do change plans, so a message is the polite thing to do

I would of checked before just putting my name down.

At mine, we have a booking system. You book a time, you invite people to join, nobody can invite themselves.

These are not comps. We have drawn comps for our weekend medals.

I was checking the club comps online last night and found a slot in a betterball. There were only three players, so I put my name in to make up the second pairing. Minutes later I got a message to say the pairings had changed. One bloke deleted his playing partner and moved the guy I was with into his pairing, leaving me stranded on my own. Not impressed at all.

Signed on the dotted line on Monday for new club. My subs ran out on my old place March 31st. I'm away for all of May and new place subs run May to May, so I popped up there to see if there was anyway they could let me sign up for April to May next year, well I am away for all of May soooooooooooo. No problem at all.(So I'm getting 13 months for 12). Subs paid, log in sorted, access to all comps immediate. E mail messages flowing in. First two comps booked ONLINE !!!!!!!!! A stableford and a Texas scramble shotgun.

My sympathies, it must be over six months now that we last had a qualifying competition, such has been the weather

This is odd to read, I played in shorts & t-shirt today for the first time this year.

It's been really wet here rather than cold, today was fairly mild but I cancelled my round this morning because it was heavy rain on a waterlogged course.

The weather is massively different north to south right now. I drove home from work back down to Hampshire and went through all the seasons in a couple of hundred miles.

This has been the worst winter for us in about 40 years, last qualifying comp. I had was 2nd October last year, but we never have qualifiers in winter.

None of our greens are waterlogged it’s the relentless gales that are the problem for us.

What part of the country are you in? Hope it improves for us shortly.
