Golf Random Irritations

I’ve been bambooing it for about 8 years now and def prefer them to plastic or painted wood tees. They're pretty strong and I’ll often finish a round with the same tee I started with (like yesterday) and none of that hard to remove paint streak on the underside of the driver
It helps that the club gives every player a few each time they play so I don't need to buy them either
Best save some pennies then as that wont happen when you return to the UK. :ROFLMAO:

One of the classics of my lifetime, right up there with the green Morris Minor, the red Fender Stratocaster and the black Dr Martens Boot,

Not my irritation, but I'm damned sure it irritates plenty of others. :D

There in lies a slight problem - buy the ones made of polypropylene (as in the picture) and they last and last buy the ones made of polystyrene and they break very quickly.

Mind you I have got about 200 of them and have never bought one in my life.

Yeah we go out knowing that we need to at least birdie every single hole to maybe have a chance so we just enjoy ourselves - we played very good golf this morning and prob left 2 out there but the sun was shining and we had a good laugh

Texas scrambles should just be off scratch. 4 chances at a shot should be enough for anyone

Weird one this bare with me! 2nd time in a row at the range I’ve been irritated and 1st time I’ve ever experienced what I don’t know whether to describe as golfing snobbery or just the arrogance of middle aged golfing dickheads.

Busy range at lunch time today as expected with glorious weather. Now for context I rocked up in shorts, t-shirt, trainers, cap and sunglasses, so nothing out of the ordinary and also had in ear headphones in as I often do, I am also covered in tattoos. Took up a bay sandwiched between a lady with her 2 daughters to one side and a group of 4 blokes competing on one of the Trackman course all dressed head to toe in golf clothes, polo shirt, trousers, caps and golf shoes which is not an issue to me I don’t care what anyone wears, however clearly an issue to them.

Was just going through my warm up routine of few stretches and hit a few wedges without any care where they go as a loosener. When I hear 2 of the guys in the bay in front mocking me complaining people shouldn’t be allowed on the range dressed like that it’s not appropriate, wearing headphones is a disgrace and having a hat on backwards isn’t golf, he looks like a yob! They also were moaning that kids shouldn’t be there making all that noise and just whacking balls, the weird thing is she wasn’t noisy and she wasn’t just whacking balls she had a good little technique, with headphones in I couldn’t hear her at all but I could hear them being obnoxious and belittling people.

When I looked behind me I could see the youngest little girl was upset and not wanting to hit balls as the men were talking about her and her mum was embarrassed! I had a word with them about what isn’t golf or appropriate and how wearing headphones or looking differently doesn’t make me deaf or a yob but it does make them judgemental arseholes and they should be ashamed of themselves for making a little girl and her mum embarrassed to be there. I also spoke to lady behind and her little girl she could only be about 6ish and just told her sometimes boys are mean because they’re jealous of how good she is and they don’t know how to have fun like her. Got a nice little smile out of her bless her and the mum, then I went back to my own practice and hit the ball really well.

When I finished up I got a thank you from the mum and the little girl gave me a fist bump which made my day bless her.

Good work, fighting the good fight. Is the range attached to a golf club or just a standalone range? If the former then at least that explain their attitude slightly. If the latter than I am baffled.

Don’t know about fighting the good fight, I have a problem in general with knobheads and bullies, I also hate seeing people upset kids when there’s no reason and I’d like to think or hope were that my wife or daughters someone would speak up for them.

This range is kind of attached to a club, it belongs to a public course but it is situated across the road completely separated from the course, clubhouse and has its own separate shop. So it’s only really attached in name rather than physically. The other range near me that has no attachment at all there’s never been an issue with, thankfully I’ll only be up here next week then ill be back home permanently and using the club and my local range for practice.

Fully agree, I would love it if my wife took my little girl to the driving range (she wouldn't without me in reality), but the idea that some pompous gits might audibly grumble about them is saddening to say the least. So weird to moan about your clothes out loud as well, obviously thought you couldn't hear them with headphones on. Schoolboy error. 😂

I quite often at the range when busy put headphones on but don’t play anything through them. Use them to block out the major background noise.

Agree with all of the above, fortunately when I’ve taken my 6 year old girl to the range I’ve never had any issues
