That being said 2 rounds in I’ve not broken one or lost one, so the 5-10 uses is accurate so far for me. In that same number of holes I’d usually go through 2 dozen wooden tees. It’s more rare for me to not break a tee than have one intact. Plus even if google is chatting crap s long as I like them I don’t care.

Next question - if you find a tee on the course how do you know if it's wood or bamboo? Don't they kind of look the same?

Can’t speak for every brand but the ones I have are specific to manufacturer so easy identified. If you’re using tees you’ve found anyway what does it matter

I bought a pack of bamboo short red castles. They routinely get chipped rendering them useless. I think they are a conspiracy to sell more because they break so easily (compared to plastic)

The one good thing is that they leave a big red mark on the sole of the club that shows your swing path (which in my case needs serious improvement!)

Maybe something in the design of castle tee shape cause it to be more brittle due to the wider flatter top. But then I can’t stand any form of castle tee, just a standard tee peels shape for me.

Do you hit an iron off every tee? That’s really the only time I break wooden tees. A long wooden tee for driver lasts me ages in winter when the ground is soft.

Never had a problem with bamboo tees chipping and also find that when they crack, even if it's all the way round, they maintain their integrity for quite a few holes after.
I think it's because that bamboo is made of fibres so as long as the core is maintained, the tee will not bend

No I break wooden tees just as often with Driver as I do with irons. It’s very rare for me to hit a driver and not have a broken tee, that’s why I’ve enjoyed the Bamboo ones much less breakage for me

I’ve been bambooing it for about 8 years now and def prefer them to plastic or painted wood tees. They're pretty strong and I’ll often finish a round with the same tee I started with (like yesterday) and none of that hard to remove paint streak on the underside of the driver
It helps that the club gives every player a few each time they play so I don't need to buy them either

How many times have you used a wooden tee? I would suspect 1000s - 1 splinter in all this time makes it seem like a bit of an over reaction

Well if I ignored it and then get a second one I'd feel pretty silly when it was easily preventable.

Really, you should have mentioned it before.

Unfortunately it’s one of them things you have to either put up with and just enjoy the day or not play.

I know one place who have changed both there scramble comps to drawn to at least give more of a chance to everyone.

Yeah we go out knowing that we need to at least birdie every single hole to maybe have a chance so we just enjoy ourselves - we played very good golf this morning and prob left 2 out there but the sun was shining and we had a good laugh

That’s all you can ask for to be fair.
Until players stop playing then clubs will still put them on.
Maybe a Florida or Vegas scramble would even things up a bit more
