Golf Random Irritations

Yeah, that's me I'm afraid. I'm willing to pay the extra to not have to share a bathroom with someone I'm not married to! :D
Done a couple of trips away with the lads and night time was purgatory. The snoring was god awful loud. One of the lads ended up sleeping in the bath. Ironically I have since found out that two of the lads sleep separate from there wives because of the noise they make.
Single room for me every time.

My inability to drive the ball! It’s not even a random irritation it’s down right disgrace!
For someone playing off 18.3, my driving since the start of the year has been excellent. The two previous years it has been purgatory with me coming over the top. However my woods, irons and short game is now grade one Rammel. 😖

I’d struggle to say my driving meets your handicap mate. It’s horrifying you wouldn’t wanna trade trust me.

If I was the organiser, I'd be delighted with 11 as it means that I don't have to share a room. 😊
You can always tell the rooms with the snorers as one person always leaves the bar at about 8pm to get to sleep before the other gets in :ROFLMAO:

I was always lucky when we went away, for some reason they always put me, the youngest in the group with the oldest, who when he was in the room snored like you wouldn't believe, luckily he never stayed in the room preferring to visit some of Spain and Portugal's "not on the map" tourist spots :sneaky:

I don't share rooms on golf trips. I'm too light a sleeper... and I see the single supplement as worth every penny.

If I'm on a golf trip, I'm there to play golf, which isnt easy on no sleep or with a monster hangover.

Regular irritation is to miss decent trips because some blokes go feral when the get away for a few days!🤣

It’s odd because some of the guys I play with can hit it a country mile, some drives quite frankly are a thing of beauty.
But when it goes wrong, sweet mother it goes massively wrong.
I remember playing a free round at Seacroft Skegness. A guy I played with could hit it a country mile. He hit a drive miles left. One of his PP asked if he was playing a provisional. He said “ nah I will find that”. So after I had played my second I walked with him and he kept looking at his watch. He then said “it’s around here”. Sweet lord it was within 2 yards in knee high wispy grass. He said “ I nigh on always hit it 260-270 carry”. 😳

Me and a mate just went out for a knock I hit the ball woeful we only played 11 together he had to get home

Was fizzing with my ball striking so decided to nip back on the first tee and play a few hole alignement stick down for my shots and just absolutely striped it

Felt more open doing that so I must have been aiming my feet and shoulders at the target earlier which is my natural tendency

So frustrating

People shouting at each other down the adjacent hole when you’re taking your shot. Or, like today start talking loudly after his mate just played his duffed tee shot, ignoring the fact that I was chipping into the green 20yards away from him in perfect view. He got a long look!

The first few trips I organised for a large group it because apparent that some were there just to get away from their families and drink as much as they could and if the golf suffered then so be it. Much smaller group now, makes golf the main thing.

"Unfortunately, your application has been unsuccessful" from St Andrews for next years Swilcan package......
I'd recommend booking three other courses up there, we booked Eden, Jubilee and Castle (we sold our Eden tee time to a group behind us in the queue for the Old who didn't get on), then do the ballot and the new pavilion system they've introduced, even if you don't get on the main attraction you'll have a good few days in golf's capital city!

Thank you for the advice, we were going to do the solheim cup again next year but its location isn't the best so I'll sack that off and head up to to Scotlandand give it a whirl. Playing the old course has really got under my skin and i really want to do it!!

On any kind of "men only" trip, it's always immediately apparent which ones are really excited to be away from their wives.

I will echo this, some of the lads went to Portugal last month. One of the lads has been several times and there has always been incidents. This time he ended up coming home early. He went on a few massive benders. Eventually he had to come home on his own. He has since been to the drs re his drinking. It’s a shame really as he is a really top lad. None of the other lads knows why he goes like this.

Must admit I had a reputation for getting massively carried away on golf trips the first few times. I’d be getting in at 6am, having about 3 hours sleep and feeling shocking all day. Then repeat again that night. Turning point was coming home and being off work with an eye problem and exhaustion. The same holiday my partner in crime ended up in hospital when we got back, dehydrated and exhausted.

The last 2 trips have been much more civilised for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still go out and have a great time and drink plenty, but I’ll do the Irish goodbye and disappear before things go too far. Got fed up of spending all that money to go away and not enjoying the golf or the hotel facilities, pool, beach etc.

My golf trip buddies are all talk. In the lead-up to the trip, they'll be saying how they're planning to get smashed and whatnot. Then when the night comes around, it's 11:30pm and they're all "hey-ho, early tee tomorrow, I'm off to bed." 😆 When we did the first one in 2022 I was all set for a big night and disappointed when they all sloped off, but nowadays I've quit drinking so no expectations anymore.
