Golf Random Irritations

The dumbest articles golf sites put out. This one is from our very own Golf Monthly sadly: 5 Things We Can Copy From JJ Spaun's Swing.

"Asking an amateur golfer to play golf like JJ Spaun did during that heroic US Open victory would be unfair, but I am confident that there is always something we can learn from these elite professionals that all amateurs can embed into their own game."

Oh that's a relief, I thought he was asking us to copy a tour pro's swing for a second! Right, let's see what the five things are then:
Posture, setup, backswing, transition, and finish.

Oh. Pretty much just the whole swing then? Cheers for that.

Rapidly approaching the point where I just ignore 99% of Golf media because, well, it's just bollocks......
Articles like The best putter, driver, irons, ball etc etc.....just because a 3 handicapper decides the Qi35 is the best driver - for him- doesn't mean it's going to be good for everyone...so go and get fitted....what a waste of time and energy...
I noticed that Joe the Pro has reminisced about the olden days and chosen his favourite clubs from 2002 or whenever...why?
What's the point? You can't buy them new and the 2nd hand market will be full of examples that look like they've been used to dig graves.....
Golf media has run out of ideas.

Agreed. I'm only 4 years into my golf journey and I've got it down to a handful of YT/IG people I follow but otherwise I don't consume much online stuff. If I was in the market for a new driver or something then maybe I'd watch more, but apart from that they won't get many clicks out of me

I never even go on the click bait monthly website. Just visit the forum.

A 2002 driver would be non-conforming today anyway because of the restrictions in COR. My TM R320ti was the best driver I’ve ever had.

Not all 2002 drivers were non-confirming.

I've nothing against looking back at old gear, in fact it's what my channel is all about, but 35 years back as a minimum!

Had it confirmed that I need surgery on my displaced tendon to try to reseat it.

Annoyingly means I need to pull out of H4H this year as there is little to no chance I will have recovered in time as it’s 4-6 weeks and surgery is end of July.

Also means I need to manage the swelling with anti-inflammatories between now and then which also means copious amounts of pink pepto liquid as I struggle with NSAIDs giving me reflux.

Annoying all round.

Ouch. Sounds horrible. I'm struggling to visualise how a finger tendon can get displaced - where does it move to?

Re. the reflux: if you're taking Naproxen, I thought they usually prescribe Lansoprazole alongside it.

Played behind a society yesterday 4groups of 4 balls I was prepared for slow round but walked in after 14 holes. Good golfers but the more beer they consumed the slower it got.

We had a weird one yesterday. Group of 4 in front (members, we play with their dad normally so know them) we let them get to the green before teeing off as nobody was behind us (par 4) had to wait for them for tee off and second shot on second hole? How? Then 3rd hole (par 5) we suddenly lost them (buggies) we let the match behind us (2 ball quick guys) through .. then on 13 they let the 2 ball through (we had let them through on 5) but they hide out of sight and we almost teed off not realising they were there. They let us through on 14.. it was surreal how slow and then quick they could be.. we finished 18 had a drink and then they appeared

The tendon runs inside a sheath but it’s come out of that and is sitting just under the skin. This stretches the tendon making it hard to bend the finger and it’s painful.

Just 600mg Ibuprofen I’m on, they don’t prescribe anything with that, but the chemist gives me the big bottles of pink pepto aniseed goodness 🤢

Local club is a pain because folk virtually always play in their "groups." No drawn events at all, ever! Stableford this morning, we are in a three ball, in a field of fours.

Going to be slow. Message arrives one guy pulls out as is unwell. Other guy rings me to say do I really want to play as a two in all those fourballs? Well, to be honest, no I don't! Game cancelled!
