Golf Random Irritations

2 were reasonable irritations the drop zone one would be amusing ( and don’t let me ever allocate them because I would put them behind gorse bushes/ women’s tees/ or trees) if the drop zone was poorly allocated.
I don’t go to AGMs, not interested in the sausage swinging that invariably takes place ..
And the persistence of doing the wrong thing because we have always done it is very annoying across all manner of things, likewise change for change sake ..
My comment was based on the fact that we got 3 irritations in the space of 5 minutes :D

Because it doesn't happen sometimes, it's happened three times in the last month. The club are actually going to have a vote on not posting live leaderboards anymore.
I think the club should concentrate on the fact that they consider that apparently the people in the last group are deliberately falsifying their scores and try to correct that.

Getting suspiciously beaten in a club comp when the live scores are on How Did I Do, and the winning score was posted by the last four ball of the day.
My club turned off live leaderboards last season as there were a disproportionate amount of people winning comps from the last few groups out. Or that’s what I was told anyway.

Still off this season as well.

What's the benefit of Live Leader boards..?
People can see what they have to beat, play knowing they've little chance, cook the books or simply not waste the money....
Don't get the point...someone enlighten me...

You finish your round, you can see how others have done, see how you've done in comparison. All instantly, not one or two days later. Provides an extra talking point in the clubhouse.

However, I do get the points you make and wouldn't particularly disagree with you.

But surely even if you know the leading score via a clubhouse leaderboard (not a mobile app) when you go out there is little real advantage as there are 3.5 to 4 hours plus of golfers are still to come in with scores you have know idea of whilst you are playing. So it is impossible to ‘just’ beat the leaders as you have no idea who the leaders are when you/the team are playing the course.
More importantly if you really think that people are making scores up to win the competition, then the problem is deeper than knowing who was leading 4 hours before the ‘cheats’ come down the stretch.

In many of the live score comps the scores are also visible via the internet in a smartphone.

Taking my long clubs out of my bag to put them in the car, an iron's got stuck in a headcover and flown out at put a ding on my right wheel arch. Nice one. 😡

Wind less than 20, gusts less than 30. We dream of that. AND you've got full sunshine. What a wimp!

No trees on the course to slow that wind down, pretty exposed being next to the North Sea. That wind direction is across on 4-7 and blowing everything OB and 14-18 are all into the wind.

Played in stronger winds a few times already this season, getting sick of playing in 20-30mph winds nearly every round for the last month and a half.

Due to play a Pairs Open next week. Checked the start sheet today, lots of gaps, we're not paired with anyone.

Emailed the club to ask if that's an up to date sheet and what happens if we have no markers.😉

No reply as yet. Should be interesting. Play as a two ball in a load of fours. No one marking, surely that excludes us from the competition.

As the Competition Day approaches, we will allocate a marker if we have a lone pair in our 4BBB Opens but we won’t put them into the start sheet in the hope of attracting another pair.

I think that the Mizuno Pairs comps have the live leaderboards up until the 14th hole or somewhere mid-round, thus ‘hopefully avoiding’ situations whereby someone going out late in the day can cheat
