Golf Random Irritations

Unless you have a measuring tape handy, you might be unsure which side of a path for example is actually the nearest point. When you factor in where your feet go, etc. Also you get some situations where it's difficult to identify the nearest point that isn't nearer the hole.

Exactly, the marker has to be in agreement that the rule has been applied
A marker is not a referee and does not have any authority except recording scores. If the marker disagrees with the player's actions, he could point it out to the player and/or the committee.

In a club competition your marker is attesting your score and that you followed the rules. If they don’t agree you as the player have to seek an agreement.. if they report post event and say you cheated then you stand up in front of the committee and state they agreed the way forward at the time and if there is a third member of the group they act as the witness.. of cause this all falls apart when you let the groups pick themselves

Bunkers.. the sand distribution for the shape is a nightmare.. last night I kept getting stuck close to the side preventing any swing. I have never seen any professional golf tournaments with this style of bunker.
There was a move to rake the excess sand down into the middle, so the ball would collect there. But it seems this has stopped happening.
When you get into the middle there is no sand depth causing issues with shots.
I know the simple solution is not to go in the traps but the maintenance of said traps is poor. Some are unnecessary and penalise the wrong golfers .. a guy/ gal landing in one at 230 yards is not the person you want catch it’s the guys flying 250-280 yards as they will have to judge the risk or reward .. the 230 yard player is all ready 190yards out and less than 15% chance of being on the putting surface.

An approach to a green that hit the very top lip of a bunker. It rebounded back right under the lip of the front of it. From being a foot out, did well to make a double. Some rude words might have been said.

Missed our AGM, I forgot about it. I missed a riot. Not got a full breakdown as yet, but it's not good. Committee members resigning (allegedly). No accounts available (Should be on website but aren't) and on and on ..............................

Getting suspiciously beaten in a club comp when the live scores are on How Did I Do, and the winning score was posted by the last four ball of the day.

Any other reason why that's suspicious? That's going to happen sometimes

Are someone's meds wearing off?!?!? :ROFLMAO:
2 were reasonable irritations the drop zone one would be amusing ( and don’t let me ever allocate them because I would put them behind gorse bushes/ women’s tees/ or trees) if the drop zone was poorly allocated.
I don’t go to AGMs, not interested in the sausage swinging that invariably takes place ..
And the persistence of doing the wrong thing because we have always done it is very annoying across all manner of things, likewise change for change sake ..

Because it doesn't happen sometimes, it's happened three times in the last month. The club are actually going to have a vote on not posting live leaderboards anymore.
