Golf Random Irritations

My putting is generally good but I know it could be a good bit better. Irritatingly last week I tried a Scotty Cameron Phantom (no idea which one) on our putting green and after holing from everywhere with dead ease pro said to me that I’ll have to buy it. And irritatingly after another very variable day on the green yesterday after one on Saturday I just might have to…🙄
Every time I change something with my putting (grip, stance, tempo, aiming method) it works for a bit and then reverts to the mean. I think there's even some research demonstrates that some brains respond well to new challenges, which supports this hypothesis.
So consol yourself that the scotty is a perfect example of the phenomenon.

We are going on holiday soon, big family thing. Anyhoo, wifes neice was round for our games night on Friday. I can't remember how it came about but she was saying one of her lads, 14 years old, who does not play golf, but likes going to the golf practice area they have where we are going, hits it,are you ready for this, 300+ yards. I just looked at her and said, "so he can hit it as far as Rory then". I'm looking forward to seeing this feat. 🤪

Don’t expect to putt as well with it on the course. 😜

The three complete bar stewards behind us this morning. They always play at 8.10 on a Monday morning and had the hump that there were a few groups in front of them being a Bank Holiday Monday, some, including our 3-ball, who were in an all-day comp. Balls being hit into us, mouthing off at us etc etc. Constantly bitching about slow play even though the course was solid in front of us. We also watched them ignore raking a couple of bunkers. Two of them cleared off before the end of the round because words would have been exchanged in the bar but all three will be facing a complaint next time they are there. Just appalling behaviour and all three are pretty long-time members (you can guess what membership category they are in  ).

The I said I wasn't going to spend getting on for £450 for a putter my Pro asks me how long I've had my current one. About 15 yrs says I. Well - he says - keep the SC for that length of time and it's only £30/yr, and you spend that on two visits to the clubhouse. Damnit...we'lll see.

Already drafted and done from the three of us. I know it happens at clubs where people get used to playing every Monday and then get annoyed on Bank Holidays when other people want to play as well. I had to deal with it in my Captaincy year. But this was just appalling throughout.

We had a guy that said he could hit it 300 yards. He could/can. 100 in the air, 100 left and 100 in distance. He plays off 20 something.

Good luck with it. I’ve just bought a Spider tour x3 in honour of Rory’s grand slam. Working well so far. Only £300 though. 🤣

Bunkers with loads of sand in them. Rubbish. Just have a little bit then I can flick the ball out with ease.
This with bells on. Both courses I play never had much sand in them, but were perfect if you were a good bunker player.
But everyone used to say and complain to the green staff "There's no sand in them" as they thinned it miles over the green or into the bank, This was because they were useless getting out of bunkers
Now both courses have saturated the bunkers with sand and you sink a foot down, they still can't get out them because they are useless, but they can't complain anymore

Level of sand doesn’t bother me - the consistency is the key

If you know all the bunkers have a good amount of sand then you are aware each time what shot you need to play

It’s when you go from a bunker that’s got a lot to one that’s got very little

Is all golf equipment cheaper in Australia? Is everything cheaper in general?
Not all......when I lived in England I used to buy ping anser 2 putters and take back to OZ on my holidays for friends, they were about a third cheaper.....times have changed.

I buy all my golf clothes in Thailand where I visit each year, top quality shirts for $15 or 7 pounds, am wearing a titleist shirt now that I bought 15-18 years ago and you would think it is only 3-5 years old.
