Golf Random Irritations

Just went for a walk for my lunch, 26°, what a beautiful day. Next time I'm playing golf on Sunday - 11° and 30 mph winds again. What the hell man?
We're all thinking you are jinxing it for us all. I agree though. I'm in work until 6.00 so earliest I'll get to the club will be 6.45 and can't be asked then. Mind you playing tomorrow afternoon and it may hold one more day

Not sure. I've emailed the new golf operations manager let's see what he says

I asked the previous one to email out monthly bookings of societies to the members .. least they can do so I'll suggest to him

A marshall is going to txt me what's going on later and see if they can squeeze us out off the 10th

My mate can't play 2 days in a row because of these bookings. On the Tuesday they have 10-12 booked and he split shifts can only tee off 10-1030

And obviously Wednesday can't play now

That's poor imo

I love a cause though. Something to get my teeth into see if I can get some change at the club

I was going to say would you have been less annoyed if they had communicated the fact that they have an excellent fiscal opportunity for a society to be booked on this date for that period of time and with some nice fluffy wording about how this money would help the club etc etc

Sometimes clubs don’t help themselves with poor communication

This is what I'm going to raise (after my round tho don't want that taken away) that we need more Comms

The marshalls get the society bookings printed out etc.. they have said they will put in the hut for the members to see..

But why are they doing that when we have a golf operations manager

I've asked the guy before..I'll try with the new guy as he seems more open to listening

You've set a low bar though. Reminds me of the first time on the Nicklaus at St Mellion. Nearly waved the white flag by 13

I went to watch the Benson and Hedges there when I was 16 hcp and decided if ever played there I better take a box of balls.
Quite a few pros stopped entering because they did not like the course.

I'm playing an increasing number of away games and this is more fun by miles. I seriously thinking about joining somewhere cheap to keep my handicap, staying a country member at a couple of places, and jacking in the local £1450 pa altogether
I've done this. Found a club with membership for £50 a year (plus green fees obvs). Play half a dozen comps there each year and fill all the other weekends with opens, society golf, trips away, and other social rounds. It costs about the same (possibly slightly less) than I was previously paying for a full membership and I enjoy it much more.

Stupidly quick greens in 40 mph winds. 😬
Been there in our club championship a couple of years ago. Mentally I gave up after four holes and then shot an 80 something. Was glad I missed the cut for the next day. Three foot putts were going sideways due to the wind.

Bunkers killing me at the moment. On my two little practice rounds mid-week, I seemed to be getting the technique and strike location right, but the ball was falling just short and not quite making it out of the bunker each time. So I swapped back to the Callaway SureOut for my round yesterday - figured a bit more weight behind it might help. Went in two bunkers - shanked it both times! I have no idea why the hell that happened. Confidence in bunkers at an all time low. 😖

Bunkers, wind, slicing, going left, long swing - makes me wonder why some people bother with this game 🤣

I went in 3 bunkers yesterday... Two of them got out no issue

The easiest one of the lot , which normally I'm fine with bunkers anyways, I took 3 to get out of lol but then yesterday was a day just to laugh at . Either that or rip the card up and find a corner in a dark room.

Yeah I sometimes have to just go up the field and remind myself how aggressive you can be in a bunker

My putting is generally good but I know it could be a good bit better. Irritatingly last week I tried a Scotty Cameron Phantom (no idea which one) on our putting green and after holing from everywhere with dead ease pro said to me that I’ll have to buy it. And irritatingly after another very variable day on the green yesterday after one on Saturday I just might have to…🙄

1. Our Vets A team nicking four of our Vets B team.
2. Those four players leaving a team that was promoted to the same league as our A team.
3. Losing 8-4 twice to our Vets A team in the space of 4 days. (We had to play them first to avoid any possibility of cohesion being called at the end of the season)
4. Worse....any team entered in the league have to name 10 players, who then have to play four games (I think), then can play anyone they like. Our Vets A team, many times, have called on players from our team, and they go!!! I don't.
