Golf Random Irritations

Not all......when I lived in England I used to buy ping anser 2 putters and take back to OZ on my holidays for friends, they were about a third cheaper.....times have changed.

I buy all my golf clothes in Thailand where I visit each year, top quality shirts for $15 or 7 pounds, am wearing a titleist shirt now that I bought 15-18 years ago and you would think it is only 3-5 years old.
Are the shirts you’re getting in Thailand legit factory overstock, or just good-quality knockoffs?

Great quality...U do buy a few from golf clubs, e.g. Black Mountain which cost me about $30-$40
and they last years as well, have a few 10 years old and still in good shape.

Playing crap for all three days of the weekend. If it could go wrong inthe medal on the front it did. I then made par at 13, a 9 at 14, and then parred in on some of the trickiest holes. Played the roll up on Sunday and was abject and we had a VE event (greensomes) and I was equally as bad. It seems my game has simply evaporated although the cold didn't help. Warmed up well enough but get me on the course and I didn't have a clue

Also, we played a VE comp, usually our International day in teams of 8, with the course rammed and yesterday we struggled to get enough to put the event on. The club seemed to have killed the vibe we use to have around these events. Paid £20 for food and all we got was a hot dog, piece of chicken, corn on the cob, chips and coleslaw. Members not happy and seems the club are all about making cash now

How much does a buggy cost these days?? Just booked one for both days of our upcoming golf trip for my wife, and they've said it costs £36 per day! Seems steep! I was thinking 25...

Just booked some buggies for an upcoming trip to Portugal. Prices were €40, 45, 50 and €60 (although the UK Golf operator wanted to charge us £45-65 and wanted prepayment 😡).
Not sure why a buggy should be 50% more expensive just because we are already paying a significantly higher green fee at that course.

Our trip is in England! £36 is actually more than a green fee there. I'm very confused.

My wife has been diagnosed with high blood pressure which she's taking medication for, it's a bit dodgy for her to try and walk the two days.
Don't want to interfere particularly if you've been told otherwise but by and large exercise is recommended for people with high blood pressure.

No, they've told her to take it easy. Doing too much makes her chest hurt at the moment. She has lost 2 stone as well (jabs) but her BP is still high. Maybe she can get it down by the trip in two months, but we've reserved the buggies anyway.

Just got back from Belek (Turkey), playing at the Kaya Palazzo course this time.
Buggies were €50 - and in short supply. You could pre-book them to make sure you got one, and then they were €60.
I seem to recall that when I first played in Belek 15 years back, buggies were €30 (or €35 at the National, who have always seemed to be a bit up themselves).

The club drip feeding the IG installation information. Why not wait and do it all in one hit rather than an email asking the members to download the app and then saying in the same email we'll give you the log in details on Thursday.

The Google Review....

"Worst golf experience I’ve ever had. We were aggressively chased off the course by a staff member wearing a swimming hat—completely unprofessional and rude. No explanation, no respect. I’ve played at many clubs, and this was by far the worst. Will never return and wouldn’t recommend to anyone looking for a decent round of golf."

The reality...

1 member of a visiting fourball turns up to the bar to check in and pay green fee. Is asked if he is paying for all four players....he is not and is asked if he can send the other players up to pay. No one comes up to pay. A female member of staff goes out to request payment but is greeted with verbal abuse. The club owner and another "handy" member goes out to "escort" the 4-ball off the course. Club even refunded the one player who did pay.

(The swimming hat reference - our owner is bald and his pate is quite smooth and shiny :D)
