Golf Random Irritations

Greens maintenance week a few days before Easter BH weekend.

Given we have no comps for a few weeks, I'm not sure why they couldn't have started a few days later.

I know we'll benefit long term, but it feels like a strange decision..

Does seem strange timing. Ours were done 3 weeks ago and greens back to normal for the board event. Only downside is its the annual bogey comps. +6 winning (off 19) so a big ask in my first round tomorrow to stay in touch

Can only think that it’s been judged on the incoming wet and warm spell that’s going to happen over Easter - perfect weather to repair and grow

Just feels odd timing. We had our first Medal of the year last Saturday and the greens (for April) were excellent, almost summer speed, rolling super true.

Very true. I turned up at 9.30am today and the sprinklers we're still on across the back 9.

I do wonder if the recent warm and dry weather has affected the greens..

"Cats and Dogs" is forecast for tomorrow morning's tee time. First back tee comp of the year over here, might involve drinking coffee and peeling through the clubhouse window!🤒

Wake up at 6am. Turn on the phone to see iG message saying Newport is carry only. Immediately withdraw as my injured shoulder means I can't carry.

Over the next few hours I see a packed start sheet empty as it is pouring down. 11am, it has stopped and the sun has come out! :-)

We were due showers all morning and had one very brief dusting (sorry not what you wanted to hear) but the wind was a real brute gusting around 30-35mph and to top the day off got back in after my round and the club had a power cut so couldn't serve any food or drinks

£55 for a green fee and some rakes didn't even have teeth, or whatever it's called.

A two ball of youngsters in a buggy up our arses, this is will always annoy me.

Played 36 holes today and stuck behind a 4 ball on both courses who hadn't just started playing the game, but looked like it was their first time out the house.

Sadly, that £55 might have been £25 pre covid.😄

Players who damage the hole and do not repair it before leaving the green.

Most noticeable is the players who use the thing on the end of the putter and lean the shaft on the edge of the hole.

One of our guys pulled out before before our 11am tee time because it was raining. We had a totally dry day. I was glad I had put the waterproofs on before going out though as it was bit nippy in the strong wind.

At the range today, couldn't stop crossing my hands on downstroke resulting in vicious draw

Mental, I spent over a decade with a severe slice and a handicap that gave me two shots on some holes
Today I broke 80 for the 2nd time this year while working against a draw

Daft game
