You don't think there may be other reasons why the flag can be removed? Why glueing it in place might cause a problem?

You are welcome to take the flag out, just as others can leave it in. Just remember, when the hole starts, the flag is in. It can stay in until the hole is completed. Plenty of people do this. People leaving it in are not the ones slowing things down.

That's the standard routine amongst caddies (I learned it when I caddied on the LPGA for our niece, just once). You can see the caddies following the routine on TV. Last player to putt, his/her caddie has the flagstick.

Honestly it seems like more people at my club leave it in than take it out these days. So it's you taker-outers who are wasting everyone's time. ;)

Certainly in the membership that I play with, the vast majority have it out except for the longest putts. And if I know one of my group likes it in for all putts I'll ready myself with flag in hand for when it's his turn to putt. Really takes little or no extra time whatsoever. And what extra time it might cost is for me a small cost that is worth paying for the common courtesy of respecting the player's wishes.

Are you in, out, in, out as he takes turns putting, or does he get out of the way first/last?

As we stand on the 1st green and before anyone putts, I always make a point of stating to the others with me that my preference is that I’m out for all but longest…and the others with me then state their preference. Thereafter it always seen to sort itself out very easily with minimal or no In/Out/In/Out required. Again, at my place in a four it is usual that only one will be an always flag-inner.

I now have a neat slice on the end of my right hand ring finger........Green keeper advised and flag replaced forthwith......

I reckon carbon fibre cuts are worse than paper cuts. I got one in the finger a couple of weeks ago and it has only just healed.

It's so blooming annoying, can do 9 holes before work to round off my year but 35 mph gusts? Don't overly fancy that

Up to 40mph gusts on Saturday but I'll likely be playing regardless of how silly that is as I haven't played since the 1st - and won't be able to play in Christmas week either.

Looks like I'm on a 2 week golf break until the kids go back to school, although eldest has asked when she can next go to the range with me so fingers crossed 🤞
