People who insist on having the flag in even from close. Fair enough if you are putting first but when it's out I'm not putting it back in until everyone has holed out.
Hmmm...he wants it in I consider it a simple matter of courtesy to respect his wishes - whatever I might think of it - and no matter how irritating. If it was me asking for it in I know what I'd think if another player refused my request. Each to his own.People who insist on having the flag in even from close. Its being awkward and it slows the game down.Hmmm...he wants it in I consider it a simple matter of courtesy to respect his wishes - whatever I might think of it.
From what I've seen, the majority of top golfers have the pin out for short/medium length putts. Its being awkward and it slows the game down.
Thankfully it seems to be getting rarer.
So you are happy to slow everyone down just to prove a point? I wonder how you managed when it wasn't allowed. It's OK...I'll have the flag in and I won't get petty if I have to put it in myself.....
What are you talking about proving a point? He obviously just prefers to putt with it in. When he wasn't allowed he probably wouldn't have known that he preferred to have it in, because he wouldn't have tried it.So you are happy to slow everyone down just to prove a point? It should be banned along with left handers.
I'm going to throw something really controversial into the mix - I bet most golfers don't really care whether the flag is in or out! Most of those who I play with just go along with what the first person to putt wants and don't mind either way.So you are happy to slow everyone down just to prove a point? If the flag is already in it's fine. It's when it's out and they ask for it back in that's irritating. What are you talking about proving a point? He obviously just prefers to putt with it in. Honestly it seems like more people at my club leave it in than take it out these days. So it's you taker-outers who are wasting everyone's time.
I think as Neil mentioned above, we just have a lot of laid-back players who don't care either way, so it ends up staying in. Also our greens are all on big slopes so if you have a tricky downhiller you tend to leave it in. I rarely ever take it out, but if a previous player takes it out, I tend to leave it that way - unless I have a steep downhiller as mentioned. Only then I'd put it back in.If the flag is already in it's fine. It's when it's out and they ask for it back in that's irritating.
Either you are lying or your club is weird.
It only seems to be seniors that do it round here tbh. A few years ago it was common but the novelty has worn off.
That's perfectly reasonable. We have some pretty extreme slopes too so it's common sense to leave it In for those.I think as Neil mentioned above, we just have a lot of laid-back players who don't care either way, so it ends up staying in. I'm firmly in the don't care camp.I'm going to throw something really controversial into the mix - I bet most golfers don't really care whether the flag is in or out! Most of those who I play with just go along with what the first person to putt wants and don't mind either way.

Hey, if someone who wants it out, wants to get annoyed by someone wanting it back where it started if they hadn't taken it out in the first place, ...........that's their rightThere are plenty of threads already for this, but if some still wish to argue the toss then rock on!
I hope that isn't your attitude when caddying! You really can't be telling the pro's that you aren't going to be removing the flag for them! It's in till its out them its out... but for gawds sake just leave it in

It's literally designed to be removed. If it were supposed to stay in then it would be fixed in place.Hey, if someone who wants it out, wants to get annoyed by someone wanting it back where it started if they hadn't taken it out in the first place, ...........that's their right
(it's going to be a long winter, I can tell already)
