Golf Random Irritations

What are the gaps either side i.e. 6 iron and 9 iron? You can get the club bent to adjust the loft and even out the gapping.

To be honest, I got one 6 iron that was randomly 180+ yards, and one 7 iron that was randomly 168 yards. So each of those would have pushed that average up. Just what you get with game improvers I guess.

Swear I must be dyslexic sometimes, the amount of times I write the completely wrong word is staggering. 🤦🏻
I didn’t even realise that to be honest and if I did I wouldn’t pick you up on it (This isn’t an English test or Tashy would be long gone).

I was a reference to your well documented ability to slice the ball at will regardless of trees

so the fuddle lads met in the clubhouse for a cuppa today as the course was closed.

Anyway one of the lads was telling us about his £360 Garmin watch he uses for the course. The battery was losing its charge after about 14 holes. So he enquired about changing the battery. He was informed by Garmin that the battery’s cannot be changed but he can return it to them and they will give him a discount on a new watch 🤔😳🤬👍. WHAT.
So after doing a bit of googling he finds on YouTube a way to remove the back etc etc and to put in a new battery. After an hour he has refitted a new Battery for the cost of £27. He also found online a company that will do the same job for £29 or £39.
Now there has got to be something seriously wrong with a company/ Garmin that expects you to buy a watch that needs throwing away when the battery dies. If I was buying a Garmin watch, or any other I would be asking one question.
“ can I change the battery when it dies”. If the answer is no then you can shove it.

My first GPS watch was a Garmin S1. You can't even change the strap on it. And the strap DOES break.
Mine was stitched back together with thread, but after the third part of it broke, I gave up. It would have been more stitching than strap.

I don't normally slice it from 100 yards but I also couldn't rule it out. 😄

Once a third party changes the battery all other warranty’s you have are gone as the integrity of the watch is knackered.

Part of Garmin’s guarantee is the ruggedness and water resistance of their products.

I’ve only worn Garmin watch’s for the last 20yrs and never had an issue with either the batteries or getting a new watch strap (Temu/Amazon is your friend for these).

I was told the same nonsense by Skycaddie.

Be interested in who the company are!

But if the only other options were to send it back, then what does it matter? Looks like changing the battery yourself was vastly cheaper than buying a discounted new device.

They offer refurbished or new devices and you get an extended warranty that covers the waterproof side of it.

Obviously it’s an individual choice and will also depend on how much your watch cost and what you use it for, my fenix is used for Golf, running, walking and swimming.

You've obviously never had an S1. The strap is part of the body of the watch. It cannot be replaced. Utterly stupid design. When I was looking for a new watch, the other Garmin models did have replaceable straps - but using some weird proprietary connection meaning that new straps are £££

In the end I got a Bushnell for the simple reason its strap is held on with traditional spring pins.

Never had an S1, maybe they learnt from their mistakes as all their watches now have replaceable straps.

I had an S1 and the strap issue is correct. Thankfully they learnt from that design and future watches now have a replaceable strap. When my strap snapped I bought an S12 . 3 yrs in, very happy with it.

TMI. (too much information). Just choose the club and hit the required shot. "Gapping" is, imo, significantly over-rated. A player should be able to hit at least three clubs proficiently to a 100 yard marker.
Why 3? And why 100 yards specifically, what’s so special about that distance.

Why is it overrated that a player knows their stock yardages?

A good player will be able to hit multiple clubs for most distances. Knowing your carry distance for stock, three quarters, half, out of your boots, or different flights can be a huge help.

Realising the G430 wood I just ordered doesn't have a headcover with it. What are people doing with their headcovers?? It's not like it's that old of a club for it to have got lost along the way. Now I'll have to buy one separately at extra expense.

The Pin head covers are rubbish in there design. I have had Missis T sew socks ( with the feet cut off ) onto all my head covers.
