It’s either that or course gets closed to all
I'm in favour of progress, but if your course has remained open through winter for decades (maybe more than a century), is it really necessary?

Depends if it’s remained open for all as opposed to just those that can carryI'm in favour of progress, but if your course has remained open through winter for decades (maybe more than a century), is it really necessary?
Who knows what has happened in the surrounding area? Maybe more houses have been built, farmers ditches not maintained, a drain blocked etc. All could be pushing water onto the course that didn't go there before, causing drainage issues on the course.I'm in favour of progress, but if your course has remained open through winter for decades (maybe more than a century), is it really necessary?

All large scale new drainage schemes will need to consult with neighbours as to where they intend to take the water.Who knows what has happened in the surrounding area? All things that are meant to happen in theory but doesn't always happen in practice. My point was, things change over time and that can affect a course that wasn't affected previously, through no fault of their own.All large scale new drainage schemes will need to consult with neighbours as to where they intend to take the water.
Most farmers are pretty good at maintaining their ditches as flooded land is unproductive , only wish the EA where more active in river dredging

Cutting the ropes?? So players have thought, before leaving home, "hmm I'd better bring a pair of scissors with me just in case those bloody ropes are out again." That's absolutely unhinged!Until this year we had ropes and stakes to keep trolleys and buggies away from dodgy/worn/muddy surfaces including between some bunkers and the green.
We found that some players were deliberately cutting the ropes. It will be interesting to see what happens this year.
Lunatic behaviour to physically go out of your way to cut ropes !Cutting the ropes?? So players have thought, before leaving home, "hmm I'd better bring a pair of scissors with me just in case those bloody ropes are out again." That's absolutely unhinged!![]()
Change inconsiderate for Arrogant is more like the ones at mine !Inconsiderate members , the ones that believe rules don’t matter to them
We have since the beginning of November been on winter buggy route and winter wheels for all trolleys , ropes are out to ensure traffic is managed
So far we have seen
Trolleys without winter wheels - seems the senior’s captain claims he was “unaware”
Buggy users ignoring the routes and believe their single seater in not really a buggy and more a trolley - so far 3 people have now been banned from using a buggy for a month
Users ignoring the ropes and taking their trolley either around the rope or even over it - that’s another 10 warnings been sent out
And my biggest bug bear - people that take their trolley inbetween the bunker and the green going across the fringe
Just lazy and would be happy to see snipers on the course
I'd genuinely consider terminating someone's membership for that. Most of us will take a post out of the ground to chip and maybe forget to put it back from time to time. But cutting the ropes is certainly lunatic behaviour, you're right.Lunatic behaviour to physically go out of your way to cut ropes !
I’m not one for blanket punishments but if I were the club I’d be putting rules out of this is witness the course will be closed until it’s rectified and this responsible will be removed for vandalism!
The committee warned that culprits would have their membership cancelled for life. Seemingly no witnesses.Lunatic behaviour to physically go out of your way to cut ropes !

I wouldn’t even need to consider it. I would remove it effective immediately for vandalismI'd genuinely consider terminating someone's membership for that. Funny how that happens. Hope they get caught one day.The committee warned that culprits would have their membership cancelled for life. Seemingly no witnesses.
