Golf Random Irritations

That’s just pure arrogance and disrespect. Hope you had a word with her saying as much, as long as you were up with the pace of play that’s all that matters but regardless there’s no need for being rude !
Maybe I should of but, after thinking about it...I decided that nothing good would come of it and I'd probably get portrayed as someone with an aggressive attitude (no matter how I spoke) who couldn't handle a bit of "banter".

We were playing in a Seniors comp and the ladies always have a block booking immediately behind us on a Thursday. I've only been playing in Seniors comps for the last 8 months but was previously aware that there is a degree of "tension" between the two groups due to certain perceptions of the Seniors general pace of play and their alleged attitude towards the ladies...I decided not to put fuel on the fire and to be honest....we never saw the ladies again until the closing holes of the round.

Logged in my memory banks for future reference though, should I be witness to a repeat event.

Skin the cat a different way. If she does it again, when you see her at the end of the round thank her for applauding your golf and tell her it’s nice to receive such a confidence boost from a fellow member.

Guarantee she won’t clap again!!!

Can you put your finger on why?

With me it’s normally my short game and putting.

A good player never loses their swing overnight.
Presumably you think a good player could lose their chipping and putting overnight? Which is far more unlikely given their actions are much more simple.

I don’t know the guy, but he’s obviously a decent player, so it’s more likely to be a minor change in his swing, could be as simple as s slight change in grip or sequence that has crept in over time.

I can but it dosnt usually last for months, and how come the shanks happen if it’s such a simple action ?

Anything so simple would be spotted straight away by a good pro.
But golfers are guilty of self fixing and usually make it worse by tinkering ( I have in the past)

Without seeing his swing we’re just guessing anyway.

Stand by the 18 th green and applaud her finishing putt while looking at your watch.!

No he did not......he went to Leadbetter to how to hit the ball further and it all turned to shite.......
He has a good book out now on what went wrong.

How many Pro's have gone South trying to hit the ball a mile going to Leadbetter after being very good ?
That’s why kids should be taught to hit it hard first, then learn to hit it straight.

And that works out better ??? 😳
It is similar in most bat and ball sports now, cricket, tennis, golf. It's a complete change in coaching, from being technique heavy to being more power driven. They believe it is easier to coach technique later than power later. So much of these sports is now about power, less about finesse. It's a shame in some ways but it is what it is.

They still have to be bloomin good, if you can't get the technique bit right later then you'll still just be one of us. You will just lose more balls than the rest of us though :ROFLMAO:

Not sure I 100% agree with that it’s a compete change in coaching. My dad had books from the 60s/70s of Jack Nicklaus coaching tips and everyone said teach kids how to hit the ball hard, go find it and hit it hard again, then worry about direction and finesse as they get older.

I grew up watching Greg Norman and he always advocated when asked for tips for beginners to “hit it hard then learn how to hit straight “

Pro that taught group junior sessions to us kids in the 90s focused on how to hit the ball hard and then how to dial it back to find the hardest you could hit it with control.

I think that premise and teaching has always been there, but with the advent of faster balls, drivers with higher MOI etc and the physical development of people using gyms etc has brought it even more to the forefront because people now solely focus on distance and stats that show closer you get the to green the better the scores. Whereas years ago you had players that could shape the ball and manipulate its ball flight as well as knocking the skin off it, just that with Morden tech there’s less need for the shot making golf and more emphasis on power.
