Golf Random Irritations

Top pic raises an interesting point though majority of women’s golf polos are designed to be worn untucked and don’t see anyone running round telling them to tuck themselves in 🤷🏻

Hugely rate that last picture though I could get on board 😂
It is a genuine photo that my brother took of someone he was playing with in Australia.

Dress code chat is always an irritation on here.

Wear exactly what you like. Simple.

If you get turned away, that's a risk you've decided to take.

The club may or may not need your money, that's the risk they're taking.

Saw some folk turned away from a restaurant at the weekend. They didn't think dress codes were still appropriate. Sadly, the proprietor did, so off to 'Spoons for them. 😉
Where in fairness the two I've been in recently, one in Oban and the other in Dumfries the food has been just as good and about half the price, can't speak for Englandshire though 😑

Hey I couldn’t care less if you wore a crop top and denim hot pants.

I also couldn’t care less if a club has no dress code. As long as I’m playing with friendly people what they wear really doesn’t bother me.

My point was if there has to be a dress code followed that is the simplest, friendliest and easiest one to follow I’ve seen. But just my view of it

Now about those hot pants and crop top would they suit you 😂
Many a true word has been said in jest. My stag do may have involved playing golf in attire similar to the above.

I didn’t look too bad back then. They would be a little tight now 🤣

You can wear “golf cargo shorts and joggers” as sold by golf manufacturer

Guess LT was right about common sense
I didn’t say you couldn’t. I said that about combat trousers.

I have a pair of Jordan golf trousers with pockets in the leg. Would they be ok? They are essentially combats?

I also have Jordan golf cargo shorts, and some from Tesco and Primark. Why would one be ok and not the other? Do you have a parade ground for inspections of garment labels at your club?

Nonsense rules are nonsense. Even when people have tried their best to modernise and simplify them.

If they are golf clothes then yes they are fine

And no requirement for any inspections because we appear to have people that dress in the appropriate golf clothing

So one of these is acceptable and the other isn’t?

Now you’re just being pedantic and trying to force an argument that doesn’t exist. Common sense alone dictates both are fine.

Though I’d argue the bottom ones which are likely the golf specific branding are not as smart as the top pair. Because top one looks better with shirt untucked you 😏

How in depth did you want to do

Look at two pairs or socks ?

Polo shirts?

How pedantic do you want to be

If they are both of the same thin material then wear them

Most intelligent human beings understand the type of cargo pants and shots and joggers that golf clubs don’t want you to be wearing - mainly the heavy duty workmen ( or lady ) type that your brikkie etc wears

Whilst I would share the OP's annoyance over unranked bunkers it does occur to me that it's only sand that we expect to be in perfect condition.

We accept that lies in the rough will be what nature gives us but not bunkers.

What is the difference? Both are, in a general sense, hazards and thus somewhere to penalise a misplaced shot.

The annoyance isn’t so much at the lies you get in unraked bunkers - it’s the complete and utter lack of respect that comes with it from those who can’t be arsed to pick up a rake.

This forum is hilarious 😂 Everyone shouts about only buying £4.50 polos from sports direct but then they get too hot so they have to have it untucked

And wearing hats backwards to protect their neck instead of just buying a bucket/booney
I’ve got a booney hat and makes my head sweat more than my caps that are backwards so rather than have sweat pouring down my face I wear a hat backwards.

Are you sure you are military and not some wannabe weekend warrior? You sound a bit lightweight to me - and I was RAF , used to hotels and such like🤣

I wish I was a weekend warrior. How does me saying a boonie makes me sweat so I choose to wear a cap make me lightweight. It’s called trying what works best for you and making sure your comfortable, any fool can just make use of what they’ve got, the smart person uses what works best. Otherwise known as making the best use of what works best for you!! No different to a golfer getting a custom fit to get the kit that works best for them !!

I’ve even had my issued Boonie hat tailored by a Squipper to make sure it performs best for me when I have to use it. I’ll always carry that and a baseball cap and use what is more appropriate to the conditions. Same as on a golf course the hat backwards works best for me 👌

So if you’re ex RAF, Rotary or fixed wing?
