28 to scratch handicappers28 scratch golfers!! How do you rustle up 28 scratch golfers?
So, a long wait, but our 4 day trip begins on Monday.
We play Whitby and Scarborough North & South Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday.
Think the most we are paying is £50, so great value.
I’ll post how we get on.
Hcp indexes are 5.3 to 40.4. We’re playing for fun so gimmies inside a putter length. Two 3 balls, so we should get to the pub in good time.
In what way? Rough? And if that’s the order you’re playing them, what a treat.
I’ve stayed over in both when I’ve had guys working there. Er, interesting nights out - good luck!

I doubt we’ll be out late.
I reckon the very dry weather will have hit them hard. I suspect they don't have a lot of cash. So, just off Whitby. Not hugely enjoyable as the wind was horrendous.
Thought the course layout was a bit strange. A few nice holes but a lot of poor ones. Hidden ditches all over the place that just seem positioned to catch balls rather than water.
Greens OK, but hole cup fitment not deep enough. I bounced off one that was level with the surface of the green.
Tees were very poor, pretty much no grass on most of them.
Hoping the Scarborough courses are better.
Edit…. Course rating a mile off for this course.
Crazy long walks as the bridge is out of action.
Nice clubhouse and friendly staff and godd food.

Next time. Thanks.Perhaps you would have been better off at Flamborough Head instead of Whitby.
Yes Filey's lovely. We've booked again for next week liked it that much.I've never played Whitby, but have played both Scarborough courses and Flamborough Head a few times. I agree with the comment about the clifftop holes at North Cliff, pretty dull. The holes across the road are much more interesting. South Cliff is the better of the two, particularly the holes nearer the sea. I prefer Filey to either. Flamborough Head is definitely worth a visit, it's 5 miles out in the North Sea, it has it's own micro climate.
Snainton Golf is worth a drive out from Scarborough if you want to kill a couple of hours. The shop is good as you would expect, decent range and a fun little pitch and putt course.
We’ve had 2 great, pretty tame, nights out so far.Never mind the golf; we’re all on tenterhooks to see if you survive and what bovver there is on your rough night out in Scarbados or **itby…![]()
