Northumberland Golf

Thank you for the suggestions, really helpful.

I'm meeting a couple of the lads this evening for 9 holes, and then to discuss the trip so will use this thread as a guide

Appreciate it, and if anyone else has any other suggestions please let me know

Thanks,
Dave

Might need to sell a kidney to fund that.

Meanwhile you can play Dunstanburgh for £30.
They have a cracking offer on Friday afternoons.

Amazing deal.

If you moved Dunstanburgh 80 miles north it would be over £100 a round. Northumberland is probably the best value for money in the country but I fear with Goswick whacking their prices up to near East Lothian prices (assuming to attract the Yanks) then I'm wondering how long before it starts filtering further down the coast.

I've still never played Goswick even although it's less than an hour from me and with their current green fees I've no intentions of playing it either.

Goswick is excellent and they often offer deals such as twilight prices.

Yeah, most of the lads I play with have played it numerous times and they all love it but they loved it when it was £60 a round, not £130.

I see from your list that Bamburgh are trying to charge £75 a round now? I guess the price bumping is already starting to move south.

If you're lucky enough then reciprocal's are your friend, it's about the only way I play other courses now

Note that 2 Northumberland clubs are now in the EL members scheme. You need to be a member of any of these clubs to get a game.

Edit - 3 clubs

Wow, didn't know that.
May be worth me joining dunstanburgh if im ever planning another east lothian golf trip, just for what I'd save on green fees.
Probably cover over half the membership price

I'll need to let one of my regualr playing partners know, he still a member at Dunstanburgh as well. Not sure if he's aware of the reciprocal thing.

I am heading up that way again in a couple of weeks for a break with the family, my clubs will be the first items in the boot, we are staying in Seahouses this time and a round there s a definite, also looking at Foxton as next nearest I have not played.

As everybody as already mentioned some great courses in the area and non of them are overpriced, Dunstanburgh being my favourite.

If you guys are members of a club sign up and use the County Card scheme for some additional discounts on green fees, some are even reduced to members guest rate.

Think you need to be a senior in Northumberland to get a county card. I've still got a few years before that.

Never before had I seen a man threaten to walk of a course because he couldn’t hold on to a golf club 🤣
Sounds like our captains day last year. 30mph winds and sideways heavy rain all through the round. By 15 all 4 of us in the group said we couldn't feel our fingers any more. I was soaked through to my skin, I found out that day that waterproofs can only protect you so much. When I got home I went straight to the shower and stood there for about 20 minutes trying to warm up.
