Very amazed was it, to read about Golf in Mallorca, page 80/81, especially about "Son Gual", that this golf course "sets the highest standards on and off course".
I played the course some days ago, and I must say, it was horrible. Not the design or the course itself but the noise. Son Gual is situated in visibility to the Palma-Airport in the middle of the zone, where the aircrafts land or start. On the day I played the course every minute an Airbus or a Boing or an other aircraft started and just over the course they reached a height from 250 to 400 m with full drive and corresponding noise. It was horrible.
Why is this fact not mentioned ? The design of Son Gual maybe as good as it is, the fact that the course is situated as it is, reduces the course in my eyes to the level of "Not recommendable"

Ach, you should try playing Moray Old when the fighter jets are on excercise. They're that low you can read the pilots name tag on his flight suit ;)

If you had a fantastic girlfriend who screamed a little when getting passionate, would you dump her?

Airplane noise affects a couple of course in Belfast, train noise affects a couple in Bangor where I live, does it matter? Not one Iota.

I'll throw another odd one into the mix......on reading the wee piece in the mag that features my region and indeed my home course it goes on to mention Alnwick and the 3rd hole as being an intimidating drive through a gully.....do these writers actually play the course or just call the club for info or just plain make it up because the 3rd drive is up a hill that can only be likened to Everest!!! :D
