Just wondering if anyone can recommend any courses in the St Andrews area?

I have already played almost all the well known ones, Old Course, New Course, Jubilee, Castle, Fairmont Courses.

I am going to wait until next year for Kingsbarns

I have 2 tickets I got at the Scottish Golf Show for a round at The Dukes for £10 and also a free round at Elmwood which is just outside St Andrews from what I can gather.

Is there any others that are worth a visit? I am planning on going up for a few days in July to use the Scottish Golf Show vouchers so just looking to find another couple of courses to give a go while I am there

I will probably be staying in Dundee and travelling so if there is anything in that direction I would also be happy to give them a go

Any suggestions appreciated

Crail is worth a trip, 2 very different courses and both good in their own rights.

If you are looking around Dundee then the best one would be Downfield, super course and now the better weather is here it will be well worth a visit.

Close to Dundee I would recommend Panmure or Monifeith for links golf or Burnside at Carnoustie if you don't want the expense of the Championship course. Blairgowrie isn't too far from Dundee if you fancy an inland course or if you want to head over the Tay Bridge then Scotscraig would be my choice if you don't want to play at St. Andrews.

Thanks for the replies

Looks like Elie or Lundon Links look a good bet.

Any idea how far in advance you need to book to get a tee time?

Would a week be plenty of time? I am gonna try and tie in the trip with the days the weather is looking decent

I would imagine a week would be ok but obviously the earlier you book the better. You better check if the course will be clear from competitions etc

I played Elie today in perfect weather. Enjoyed every minute. Great variety of holes and sea views added to the experience. Helpful and friendly folk around the place too.

Well worth the trip...one minor niggle is the £77 for visitors is probably excessive, but it's on the Fife "skin the yanks" trail :D so you expect it a bit.

Nevertheless, wife and I really enjoyed it.......

Nice to hear you enjoyed it. Heading back over for a wee holiday there in June - I'm looking forward to playing it again.

Played Anstruther this morning in a flat calm and twenty something centigrade. My first coach came front from there and it was good to see his name on the honours board.

Great fun as a quick nine holes and the greens were as good as anywhere ... great sea views and a couple of bonkers (in a good way) par threes..off home in the morning.

Thanks for a great week Fife
