Good thread.

In this country i dont understand why the majority of bags sold do not at least resist water rather than absorb it!

This.

Seriously, in this day and age when there are so many hi-tech materials available it defies belief that something as simple and obvious as a reasonably waterproof golf bag is so hard to find. I have one that boasts one small water proof pocket but why can't the whole bag be waterproof? Have had to dry out my bag and everything in it so many times this year, stuffing newspapers in the pockets etc. Madness.

I have an h2no carry bag. It is my second one after the first one broke under warranty. It is pretty good, but some water still gets in. Most pockets get a few dribbles of water in, despite the zips being fully zipped up to the top. I also get a very small amount of water in the bottom of the bag, that I think comes in where the hood meets the bag, near the straps. It is better than anything I have had before though.

Being waterproof does mean you need to empty it out and dry your kit though. If there is no where for the small amount of water that gets in to evaporate out, then it will go manky, and the shafts will rust.

I think it was Murph that coined the phrase describing the material they make Golf Bags out of as the same they use to make Tea-bags - I'm in 100% agreement.

Got caught in a storm last week. It pelted down.
My trolley bag was awash within seconds, the "rain-Hood" is simply not. It doesn't function as one at all.
I'd have been better off laying a few "Juan Sheets" over the bag....except they'd have blown away.
OK, no bag is entirely waterproof as there's a thumping great hole in one end but really they should be better than they are. With the weather we have in this Country, I'm amazed there are not more waterproof bags on the market.

Well, I'm going to get one.

I was thinking of getting HID to finance a custom fit session for a Driver for Xmas but not now.

Everything in my bag had to be taken out and dried - some things (Rule book, Blackmoor Stroke saver etc) were beyond redemption. I shouldn;t have to keep everything in plastic bags just on the off-chance we get a downpour.

So.
It's almost certainly a SunMountain H2NO or I've noticed that Mizuno have bought a Waterproof one out - trouble is it doesn't look very good.........

Anyone got one of either?
Pro's/Con's..?

I feel I can comment as I have both the Sun Mountain H2No and the Mizzy Aerolight WP :D

I reviewed the Mizzy in January

Excellent bag, and it IS fully waterproof. I got caught in what could only be described as a monsoon about 3 weeks back. The outside of the bag was saturated, it even had water sitting/pooling on the fabric. Despite this, everything inside was bone dry. The pockets aren't the biggest, but the bag will easily take a full rain suit and cap in the large side pocket.

The H2N0 is also awesome. It's a little bit lighter than the Mizzy and has a different divider system. The strap is excellent and the pockets are huge. The only things I would say about the H2N0 are:

a) If you don't carry a lot f stuff during your round, most of the poackets will be empty

b) The framework of the bag, if you were to stand it up straight (Without the legs) feels a lot more flimsy than the Mizuno.

Both bags are reaaly good pal and you'll be happy whichever you buy. At the minute I'm using the Mizuno, and I think, Bigslice has just brought one too!

Got the Aerolite Mizuno from about 2 years ago and everything zipped in the pockets over last weekend stayed perfectly dry - of course there was one pocket I forgot to zip up :temper:

I have a Sun Mountain H2NO cart bag and although not the prettiest bag every pocket is totally dry. Bought a Mizuno Aerolite WP stand bag and expecting good things after the reviews on here, however first time out in the rain and every pocket was soaking. Very upset, Golf247 were very happy to replace with another but I could not see obvious faults so was anxious at probably getting another bag from the same batch so they replaced it with a Titleist Stadry. Keeping fingers crossed as we have not had any rain in last week since it arrived. Golf247 were very good about replacement.

This is certainly something that I have never understood when it comes to cart bags. Stand bags need to be lighter weight and more flexible and so I can understand why certain materials are used for them. The weight should not really be an issue for a cart bag though. I remember my first couple of cart bags were all vinyl (1 cheap from Argos, the other was quite an expensive Tayloremade F1 bag) and they let nothing in. I also do no understand why most companies use the same lightweight design of rain hood as they do for carry bags. My old Ogio bag has a great hood with a right structure in the middle that opened and snapped shut and it clicked into place to no messing with zips and press studs.

If a company could get this right I think that they could make a mint.

Got a Sun Mountain H2NO bag for my Birthday in August, had many soakings (well attempted) Plenty of pockets, good Zips, there are a couple of area around the top of the hood where water can get in. I think the next bag they design should have a velcro cuff right round to prevent gaps. Also the straps for some reason are not made from the same waterproof materials and unless your waterproofs are just that you will get wet shoulders in torrential rain.

But all in all a good bag, the dividers aren't all that as when the bag is full it is sometime hard to get clubs right in or out with ease. Also with being waterproof when you put wet grips in they puddle as already said.

For a cart bag, I used to use a PK cover, very good never let a drop in, and with your brolly on the cart too you cant go wrong unless its blowing a gale and the brolly isnt up.
