There is a few in the top ten I wouldn't have put there

Watson wedge at Masters and Woods chip in

Mizes' chip was brilliant

Visually Tigers chip was the best shot I've seen. I think it probably had more 'Wow Factor' than any others in the top 10.
Just the anticipation of the ball gradually rolling towards the hole Draws you in and seeing it for the first time your thinking "Surely Not".
Also the fact that the ball was up against the sharp Fringe made getting the right contact much more difficult.

I'll look forward to the Thread deteriorating thoughout the Day. Tiger lovers V Tiger Haters. Ding Ding.. Round 1 :blah:

Well, we could argue all day about this list!

Yeah, the Woods chip was brilliant television drama but when it comes down to it any one of us could have played it. For me it's shots like Mickelson at 13th at Augusta.....off the pine needles, 200 yards over water to a front pin. Shots like that just show how good some of these guys are......and there are plenty more examples in the list.

Im very surprised this isn't in the top 10 Given the balls and Skill it took to pull that off.
Also his Flop shot to within a foot or so at the Scottish Open (Was it Castle Stuart?)
Skillwise.. unbelievable!

Tiger.. 3 in the Top Ten... Not surprising Really Given his Undoubted Talent.. ;)

I agree. Woods' chip was great, but best shot ever? Don't think so.

Of the top few, I would put Seve's fairway wood out of the bunker at the 1983 Ryder Cup right up there.

Lyles shot out of the bunker is close to number one for me

Surprised to see that as low as 14 and Mickelson's 6-iron from the pine needles on the 13th hole at the 2010 Masters at 13. Both should be top 10 easily.

Chip ins look good and Watson's edges Tiger's for me as it was the 71st hole. Context is important and hitting the shot under the extra pressure adds to the difficulty and value in my view.

Ben Hogan – 1-iron at Merion, 1950 US Open far too low at 32. This was an iconic shot, deserves to be much higher.

Similarly Jack Nicklaus – 1-iron at the 17th hole at the 1972 Us Open at Pebble Beach. Ranked 66th!!!!!

I think Ken did a piece on the Tiger chip in rolling balls to show how difficult that shot was. To say one of us could have played that shot is laughable especially given what the greens are like at Augusta. Had the ball had the pace to finish 4 inches past it wouldnt have gone in. It had to be dead weight...

Sandy's sandy shot should be higher as should Brian Watt's bunker shot - both incredible.
I'd have thought, given Tiger's chip being top, that Louis' Albatross would be higher.

I don't think anyone was saying it was an easy chip but that the average golfer is capable of hitting a chip shot. The average golfer is not capable of hitting a 3 wood out of a deep fairway bunker or hitting a 1 iron off ..... well, anything.

 Like you say, anything other than deadweight and it isn't going in. Also I don't know how the average pro would view it but personally that Fringe at the back of the ball would worry me and I'd imagine most club Golfers. You can only see it at the start of the video but its some Depth. He's got to come in seriously steep to pick that off cleanly.
Love him or loathe him he was some talent, shame I don't think we'll see him do this kind of thing again.

Without looking at the list, in my 30+ yrs of watching golf, Tiger's chip in at Augusta must be number one for so many reasons, the occasion, difficulty, execution, the moment, the excitement, the Nike logo, the location....

Padraig's fairway wood to the last par 5 when he won the Open has to be up there, also Michelson's 7 or 6 iron through the trees to the 13th at Augusta.

Torrance's putt on the 18th at the Belfry, Seve driving the 10th, Watson's 2 iron to the last to win the Open, and of course Seve's putt and reaction to his winning putt on the 18th at St Andrews.
