Ready golf query

What's his age got to do with it?
Well…putting the DA hat on…many older players are used to playing very fast…and if the others playing were playing achingly slow, the odd behaviour described could have simply been him making a point. Not excusing him or exonerating him btw.

I sometimes forget how old I am.
But if I find out what year it is, I can work it out.
Thankfully, the daily newspaper I have delivered has the full date on it.

So 3 of you are on the fairway at roughly the same distance, and out of nowhere he plays his approach and then just marches up before you've both played and proceeds to chip and putt out? :ROFLMAO:

Is he old?
Nope, just blindingly selfish and ignorant. I'd love to say it only happened once but it was not completely isolated.

I'm as puzzled as EEsat

Are you saying this chap was playing golf in your group, he played his shot, he walked down the fairway in front of the guys he was playing with, played his next shot while you were all waiting for him to move? To the point he even went on the green and started to putt out?

That is one of the most absurd things I've ever heard a golfer do. Is he new to the sport and think everyone has to finish out one at a time, from start to finish? What did you say to him after? Basically, what on earth was going through his head?
Yep, your puzzlement was ours too. He had the good grace to wait on the next tee at least. Or possibly just because there was another group just walking away from it🤣

He's been playing (mainly alone) for around 18 months.

He's 27 I think and works in finance and drives a Jag - conclude what you will.....
Jag XJ - Old before his time, probably likes old wooden furniture and has a cardigan with leather elbow patches. His dad smoked a pipe.

Jag XF - Really wants a BMW M car but can't afford one so has to settle for 2nd best.

Jag iPace - Forced to go electric by his company car scheme. Doesn't want an EV but gone for the most BHP his monthly allowance will get him.

Tell me I'm right.............

Good, my understanding was correct.

In the above scenario the player hit his approach and walked up the middle of the fairway and proceeded to leave his bag at the front of the green whilst he hit a chip and putted. Myself and the other member of the group could not play our approaches (which we were ready to do) because it was not "safe" with him in the middle of the fairway or subsequently around the green. We were close behind the four-ball Infront on a course log jammed with four balls so no pace of play problem.

He failed to see he had done anything wrong.

Most ludicrous behaviour I’ve ever heard of on a golf course. Absolutely nothing to do with ready golf, not least because it’s slowing the group as a whole down. And everything to do with someone just being downright rude.

I got a Jaaaaag XK8 when I was in my 20s and had basically no financial responsibilities (this ages me somewhat). My mates all ripped the piss out of the wooden steering wheel, dash, abundant leather, etc and said I was driving round in an old man’s boat. They bought me a flat cap and pipe to go with it. I didn’t care cos it had an awesome 4 litre V8 and I loved it. That makes me worryingly close to the XJ driver here, but I’ve never walked down the fairway like a wazzock or smoked a pipe so maybe there’s hope.
Anyway, back to the thread. Yeah, I’d do the same as OP. Life’s too short to play golf with people like this. If your club has 500 members then at least 490 of them are likely to be far better company than him.
