Go on you bunch of numpties, Some of us are flying into scotland for a game in april, ...... too far to go my bum. :p

Fair point ,but your playing some special courses not just the run of the mill track.

People - surely, the more people involved the cheaper it'll be???

I think if you want to go for "the more the merrier option"
it has to be in a more central location in England.

Orrrrrrrr
Why not have 4 different meetings on the same day and get everyone involved.
Just a thought :)

Not for Brendy and his Lear jet
Flybe's finest my man :)
for national meets surely its worth the effort. If its too far, there is nothing stopping you from organisinga decent course more local. I know the big forum ojting in april will be worth it so dont mind sticking a few quid away each month.

A bit far away for me for this Im afraid. Am gutted I am missing the GM arranged Spring meet at Castle Stuart aswell.

Bloody birthdays and student life.....cant wait until Im a teacher....

60 notes would seem a little expensive for March....?

Why. No temporary greens or tees so the course wil be playing its proper length off the whites. Its the set society rate although once I get an idea of numbers etc I can negotiate with the club as I did this year.

Funny I thought. Funny. :D :D

Just had a look at Royal Ascot site to look at the course etc, happened upon their set rates for societies and found the following.

"Society & Company Golf Day Packages

Here’s a sample of our more popular golf day packages, however, most of our days are booked to the Organisers bespoke requirements. For Societies we generally cater for groups up to 40, however with special arrangements we can accommodate groups up to 80. You are welcome to use our practice facilities and our Pro Shop carries a wide range of equipment and clothing.

Budget Package
Coffee, 18 Holes, One course lunch
from £36.50 per golfer

Premium Package
Coffee & Bacon Bap, 18 Holes, Two course dinner from £48.00 per golfer

Executive Package
Breakfast Buffet, 9 Holes, One course lunch, 18 Holes, Three course dinner
from £67.00 per golfer"

Seems like we are being offered the "Premium Package" at £48 for £60 and that's before the organiser negotiates a decent discount. Where does the other £12 per head go? For prizes? I thought that sometimes the equipment door at GM Towers creaked open a bit to provide some goodies for "official" GM meets.

Leatherhead at £30 or Smiffy's deal at The Addington (a great course apparently) including bacon bap and lunch and 2 rounds for £60 sounds much better value.

I'm out

Yeah but the apple pie is wonderful
;)

I think you'll find that whilst GM kindly offered some prizes, there wer also rather nice crystal trophies for 1st 2nd and 3rd as well which is where the extra money came from last year plus prizes for nearest the pin and longest drive and cumulative score on the par 3. £60 was a ball park figure the chairman gave me in converstation and IS NOT set in stone.

If you are going to pick fault then at least do the research and be sure of the facts. Speak to the prize winners and they'll tell you that the quality was very good and obviously there is a cost involved. Other than that get off your arse and see if you can do a better job. Its easy to pick fault but have you the gumption to do something yourself!

And the apple pie was homemade and the nuts!

Steady on Homer. You don't want to burst a blood vessel.

I just happened to notice that your club advertised the package at one price and you were talking about a "ball park" figure £12 higher which apparently the chairman gave you. You have now adequately explained that the ball park difference of £12 per golfer is for crystal trophies, NTP and LD.

OK. Fine.

I have mentioned in earlier posts that I play some society golf. Being new to the forum I didn't want to "blow my own trumpet", so I did not want to say that I organised 5 or 6 of them a year with anywhere between 30 and 60 attendees.

So, please, You get your facts right before being rude to others.
