I may be here under false pretences as Ive never seen your magazine, or if I have then I havent purchased it. Nor would I. The days have passed when paying a fiver or so for a periodical of adverts with some "how to fix your slice" articles are long past, apart from whiling away a few mins while in the dentists waiting room. The net provides this and much, much more effectively for free. And it is current up to date minutes after an event, not a magazine put together 3 months before an event. I mean no disrespect to your own periodical, and am grateful that you provide a golf forum for people to discuss the many aspects of this great game, but its a bit like asking the mammals what they think about dinosaurs.

A fiver??!!..my subscription works out just under £3 per month.....and £40 worth of Z star balls on the way...cracking deal :D

Mine works out at under a quid a copy - use Tesco Clubcard vouchers and it's £12 for a year (13 issues?) :D

Hi all
Thanks for the comments - just following up on a couple of points

From Zeek
Hi Mike...I switched from a paper subscription to the iPad version through Zinio about 8 months ago. It works really well for me, and the recent changes to add video etc right into the mag are great. The only problem I have seen has been that it is sometimes a bit slow to appear, but i'll renew, and think it's better than the paper mag for me...(although not sure i have found the videos in this months mag yet!)

hi Zeek - really glad you're enjoying the ipad edition. It should be released on the same day as the magazine goes on sale at newsstand but we do have occasional issues with Zinio the platform we use (they work out of San Francisco so there's often time zone problems getting hold of their tech guys which causes minor delays to release, initial release without multimedia content etc). The June issue has masses of extra content so it sounds like you must have downloaded it as soon as it was released. It was re-relased 24 hours later with everything as it should be. If your multimedia content isn’t showing them I'd advise looking at Zinio help (question mark top right corner in the library view). It might be deleting and then redownloading sorts it.

Hi mongoose - I hear what you're saying but I think you'd be pleasantly surprised with the depth and breadth of content in the mag. It’s much more than just tips and tournament previews. If you email me michael_harris@ipcmedia.com with your home postal address I'll gladly send you the last few issues FOC so you can have a look for yourself

Cheers Mike - will have a go now at removing and re-downloading with the new content. The videos really are excellent!

with two email addresses I'm kind of hoping it will have been sent home, so a, potentially, nice surprise when I get back tomorrow night after our sojourn in Lincolnshire.

I enjoy the history, keep that going please.

The TW interview was more than expected,
Wayne Riley seems a bit edgier - which is good. Liked his 'marmite major' piece.
having just spent out on new toys I try to resist reading about more - but they're just too shiny, and the gadgets and gizmos are interesting, if bewildering at times - I mean, why?

not read the new issue yet - that's in the bag for the travels tonight

Ok, removing the iPad issue from the device and adding it again solved the missing extra content. Looks great!

The only thing that makes me question the iPad version over the paper one is the lack of the box of balls that comes with the paper subscription! :D

Zeek - good to hear this sort of comment as it gives me grist to the mill to try and get the iPad price reduced. I'd liek to see it much lower than it currentky is

Hi Mike, think the magazine is going from strength to strength, and is starting to find it's feet after a hundred years ;)

I like the handicap section, its an area I've only started to take an interest in during the last year or so, so this has been a good addition to me.

Like the others, I love the player interviews and the Gmac/Riley/Howler pages, but I always go to the course review sectoin, the pictures are pure golf porn to me!

Think there should be more course reviews from readers and forum members. I will happily do all the courses in Surrey and Berkshire, assuming my green fees are paid. ;) ;)

I have now subscribed for the iPad edition of the magazine and I'm loving it. The interactive content is a real bonus. It is however a real shame that you can't claim the free gift for a new subscrition. :-( and is there a way of clang the society ball marker next month?

Matt.

Me too! I take 8 or 9 subscriptions via Zinio, some of which are golf mags from the US, NZ etc, and I can get a year sub for under a tenner on all of those. GM is by far the most expensive one I take. Do they force you to make GM available cheaper for foreign account holders, like they do in reverse?
