Been struggling with the big stick recently so I’ve decided to tinker a little. I have just visited my golf repair guy who I’ve used a lot recently due to a bit of bad luck.
I asked him to chop down the shaft to which he explained he would only take a certain amount off to begin with (3/4”) and that I would need a heavier weight to balance it out at the head. He then took out my current weight which was 23grams.
Now I have always been under the impression my G425 max came with a 26g weight as it says this all across the board on the specs that I have read. Would there be a reason why this came with 23g and not the 26g which is advertised pretty much everywhere?
He then has asked me to purchase a 27/28g weight which I can tinker about with between two, with the option of taking more off if I wanted if I wasn’t happy with what I’ve got.
Now will these weights really make a difference especially when you’re just an average golfer?
There is no doubt the shaft was too long. Lots of heel strikes. It’s the only club in the bag I struggle with and I’ve played enough golf to know something isn’t right. I’ve had numerous driver lessons and I believe I have just wasted a lot of money when the simple fix was a shortened shaft.
