Or to give it last years' name....KOK.

Any plans to run it again this year? I loved the concept, thought it was an excellent idea (and top marks to all the organisers!!!) but was put off by the pretentious name.

So....if it goes ahead again this year.......please Please PLEASE change the name! And why not open it up to guests and try to grow it into something really big? :)

I enjoyed the day at Camberley Heath this year, didn't play well but enjoyed the company, food and course.

I'd certainly give it another go next year. Even if it's just to play another good course!

As for the name, I think Callaway took the idea of King of Kings for their Kings of Distance tour / campaign. Question is, would you rather be a KoD or KoK?

I have a huge year of studying, family stuff and work ahead of me. I will have a think over the next two days as to whether I want to oversee this again, as it was very well attended and doesn't deserve someone who doesn't have the time nor energy to arrange it.

In the meantime, if someone else would prefer to take a turn this year, put your name forward now.

I too would vote for a change of name. 'King' is sexist in the context of the competition being open to both sexes.

You did a cracking job last year getting it up and running, it would be a real shame if it was to fold after just one year. I can't take on organising the entire thing but I'm certainly willing to work with one or two others to make it happen again*

*subject to it having a sensible name ;)

Id be happy to join a commitee of people to organise it. Surely we can just cut and copy the rules from last year. Someone collects the money for the comp entry, someone sorts out the final, regionals get organised by regional volunteers, and bob is your uncle :)

I agree the we should dump the old KOKs  for maybe the Golf Monthly National Stroke Play Champions Competition = GM / NSPCC , now where have i seen that before.

But seriously, I'm willing to help out whoever takes the job in my area. I really hope Virtuocity decides to continue his good work in next years comp . And with a lot less hassle this time around as a few on here just tried to be awkward,. IMHO.

I know it's going to be contenious but is it possible that if it does happen next year that the possibility of Stableford is discussed ?

Phil you surprise me, I never thought i would hear a cat 1 player want to play Stableford in a mixed h/c comp.

Just think during the time of the year and to keep it relaxed etc a stableford comp would be a better fit that's all

I think it should be a medal round as it's proving the KING if the region

Can stableford not do that also ?

Also ensures the rounds go round a bit quicker and in suspect weather if someone has a mare after one hole can still carry on

Imagine someone driving couple hundred miles round trip and having a mare on hole one in awful weather ?
