Thanks for your responses everyone. I'm going to go ahead and organise this now. It will take the form of a regional qualifier and a National Final.

HELP WANTED

I need some people to organise each regional qualifier. Please PM me if you're interested in helping out. I've already had a few PMs so thanks for that.

I forgot that bit where I mentioned about stableford. Oh wait, no I didn't, I just didn't mention it at all ... as I only ever suggested medal play :thup:

In fact, in post #21 it's almost like I suggest stableford. But then I didn't. In fact that's were I explicitly said that it should be medal not stableford.

Im just happy that guys are willing to organise these meets and I'm thinking this one will take a lot of time and effort,so whatever is is easiest for them is fine by me.

If playing "Another Stableford completion" is such a hardship then why don't you organise a Matchplay comp?
 
How hard can this be?

We divide the players into the regions as shown below then we do a draw of the players in each region. Odd numbers will mean some people will get byes. Each region plays each round (some will have more rounds than others due to nos.) 1 on 1 matchplay at one of their courses. First to post their result gets home advantage next round. Then i suggest regional winners play nearest neighbouring regions until its whittled down to just 2.

Those 2 then meet at a final (TBD) at towards the end of the year , maybe even at the HFH meeting, it doesnt matter just as long as everyone else is invited to attend.

I suggest we run through the list again but this time instead of naming your country, county, town, street, etc just say what region you belong to.

I agree, its how every National matchplay comp is done, Nike, Volvo, HDID etc, its not rocket science!

If there is interest in a matchplay comp as well as the other comp to be organised by Virtuocity then I'd be happy to get involved in organising it. The google map thing that someone did with everyone's location pinned on it would be useful as you could then just pair people up with their closest rival and as each round progresses remove the locations of those that have been knocked out and again pair up the closest.

I like the regional idea & final better but I do like both ideas. The matchplay idea could essentially replace playing in that nike/volvo crap that I entered the last 2 years.

Ive offered to help Vituocity organise the northern section of the other idea.

If somebody wants to take on the organising of the matchplay one I will offer my help with the leg work and setting up the boundaries and matches. Once the first set of matches & routes to the final are setup it shouldn't be too hard but I do think the work is in the initial setting up.

I don't want to be the head honcho on either as ive got a few other irons in the fire so to speak. In golf terms I will happily be on the committee but I don't want to be the secretary or president :D

If people have the choice to play one or the other or both then everybody should be happy and everybody wins :thup:

I don't think we need to drag this on any longer imo.
