Apparently, Garcia has risen to third in the world rankings after winning in his home town this weekend. What happened to Harrington, winner of three of the last six majors? Garcia, as you all know, has won none! A strange system if you ask me but I doubt that Padraig will lose much sleep over it. ;)

I think the rankings system seems to work out fairly well, it's never going to be perfect. I think week in week out Garcia performs better than just about anyone so probably warrants world no.3.
Garcia is better, imo, than Harrington tee to green but Harrington has that killer touch on the greens and is able to handle Major last day back 9 pressure a wee bit better. Saying that Harrington was the perennial runner-up when he was Garcia's age and then developed that winning mentality in his mid-30's. Maybe Garcia will start to take a few majors soon, wouldn't surprise me, particularly if he can improve as a short-putter.

Whilst Harrington has peaked for the majors recently, he has been a bit flat outside of them. Garcia has been by far the steadier performer over the last year, and deserves his No.3 ranking. Bear in mind for Garcia that he was second for two of Harringtons majors, so there won't be a massive points gap between them purely measured on the majors.

Harringtons approach seems to mirror that of former TdF winner Lance Armstrong, concentrating soley on the big events.

If Garcia ever finds form with his putter (and he is putting better with his Scotty), then he could yet be a serial major winner.

I would love to hit my irons like Sergio.

I did not know that when a major is won by a player using a Ping putter that Ping make two gold putters, one for themselves and one for the player and it used to be made of 220oz gold but now they are cutting back its 13oz plated.

You learn something new everyday, boy its quite in here today.

I quite like the Rossa Spider's looks, not tried one but I have just switched from mallet to blade and I seem to be putting ok just need to get used to the blade.

easily justifies No3 spot and think at the moment he is the best player in the world what with that other fella who wins most of the time out injured.
I could watch the guy all day (apart from now and then when I have to look away when he has the putter in hand!) and he is easily the best driver and iron player on tour and if he can get back to how he putted 4/5 years ago he will win multiple majors as his long game is better than it was a couple of years back.

Good results from last major through the Fedex cup events will have acculmulated huge ranking points.
Just a shame about the Ryder Cup,when Padraig was out of touch aswell.
Big year for Sergio in 2009,he'll take Micklesons slot at no.2 in the world.Would love to say he'll capture his 1st major but the fitness of Mr Woods will have a big say in that.

Am sure Padraig wouldn't swap any Majors just to move up the world rankings

dodger,
sorry dodger ,u been sniffing the furniture polish or what...garcia best in world seen tigers out injured!!he`s a bottler ..just ask antony kim ..he ripped him a new ass-hole in the singles...everytime he`s got the chance to win a big one he bottles it big time ... ;)

Aye that'l be Kim who's 8th in WOM list and has put himself in that position to win a major this year.....ok he won a ryder cup singles, big deal so did Phil Price!!
Tell me then who is the current No.1 while Mr Woods is out then??

I don't think Kim'll ever play as well as he did in the Ryder cup again. Garcia was off form but Kim was outstanding. Once or twice out himself in trouble but then played a shot that Seve would have been proud of. Kim deserved to win his match btu Garcia has been the more consistant player of the year. I don't agree he's a bolter either. When he's not in contention it's because he's not been in it all weekend, not cause of the last day. I can't remember what the comp was in the states but look at the play off shot he played over the water to finish within about 3 feet. To do that, you've got to be able to hold yourself together.

Now number 2 in the world so I guess my earlier post has been proved correct.......whos been on the furniture polish now golfcitydweller??I presume the high winds of St. Andrews must be blowing your hair over your eyes!
Remind me where did Kim finish this week?

Superb to see,the most exciting player in golf at the moment appears to be in control of his game even his putting and long may it continue. :)
