Interesting to see migs question about progressing in handicaps. Has anybody come across a tip/advice that has suddenly worked for them and made a real difference to their play and handicap? anybody tried any of the advertised "Bound to improve your game" gadgets or theories and found it realy work? or otherwise. When do we really have to say thats as far as I can go and just enjoy it?

Traffic cone drill. Turned me from serial slicer to sometime-drawer of the ball - from 24 to 16 in about 60 days.

dont know this one, can you point me in the right direction for info?

Chipping around the green, and getting the ball rolling quickly, instead of using my 60 degree wedge all the time has just reduced my handicap from 12-10 in a month. It was a tip picked up off the forum.

too right, this is the basis of my short game, still practice the flop over the bunker though, just in case. :)

Two tips that will lower your score....

1. When putting, listen to the ball drop, keep looking at the place the ball was after you've hit it. Your strike with the putter will improve.

2. See the club hit the ball. THis is the best tip in golf.

Clean your balls - They perform better and look nice too.

Commit to the shot your are playing, never be worried about what happens if it doesn't go according to plan. Just enjoy having a plan and commiting to it.

Get something approaching a good putting stroke and short game. Even on a bad day it'll save 2-3 shots per round
I'm definitely getting yippish around 3-4ft at the moment Homer. I putting it down to moving to a house with no carpetted floors (damn the parquet boom) and no chance to keep repeating a straight through stroke. I might have to resort to asking Santa for a putting mat! (not to nerdish is it?)

I read a tip on here last month, i think it was by Auburn Warrior but it was about the custom fit with Padraig, he had a chipping lesson where wrote about keeping most of your weight on your left foot for me this has worked an absolute treat. Ta mate it was a top post.

How much commission are you on Bobmac? I had to google it to know exactly what it was, but I think I try and do the principles that it is showing, I think its the most important 6 inches that are causing the problem and possibly the muni greens that I play on.

Starting the downswing by transfering weight to the left rather than being all arms trying to hit it from the top.
This one change for me has worked wonders.

I had a lesson from a pro that teaches some tour players for putting. Your tip snelly is exactly what Martin had told me. Reduced by stats from 37 per round now on 33 per round, h/c reduction by 1.9.
Also find out if you have a dominant eye. If right handed and your dominant eye is Left you need to have the ball forward in your stance.
Roger ;)

Thanks for the responses gents, looks like their are no miracle cures but everybody agrees its the short game that counts. Im with this 100%. I'm still looking for RGDave's traffic cone drill though. Any ideas?
