Golf is hard!☹️

Since getting back into the game in a serious way, I've had lessons to get to hit the ball straighter, and practiced a lot too, but I still seem to revert to fade/slice occasionally.
That's not the problem - I'm becoming able to adjust/correct somewhat during a round.

The BIG problem is... well, everything else!

Pitching and chipping - I'm as likely to duff as thin and only 1 out of 5 get within 10-15ft.
Putting - Its embarrassing but I have been 3putting (or worse) on at least 6 of the 18 holes. No kidding - I'm standing over putts not knowing where to hit it or how hard. Even when I think I know that, I can't execute and am usually well short!

I'd appreciate some specific tips on how to improve each aspect. Hopefully a single change/thought that can help me or has helped you as I get bogged down when there's too many things to think about.

HELP!
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I feel the chipping pain. I had to work hard to get to an mediocre level but at least it is vaguely consistent now. Done using the Dan Grieve chipping method and a LOT of hard work and repetition. Same with putting and simply worked on holing out from 3-4 feet and working on distance control over 20+ feet

Chipping - Get the Dan Grieve short game book.

It's a game changer - My chipping has gone from being stood over a ball fearing the worst to now being quite confident - all down to that book.

Several people I play with have done the same and they too swear by it. I personally find that even if I mess one up, it means that I know what I did wrong and can therefore fix it whereas before it was all just "feel" - i.e. blind luck

That's more like it! (y)

But who's Dan? Does he have a lot of followers/acolytes?

Is there an abridged version for the "I want it now" society?
I have a distinct aversion to .... reading looooong explanations. :p

Putting. It's all down to practice. The best putters spend hours a week on the putting green.

I spent 6 hours one week in Feb just putting at the club, and it has made the world of difference to me. My arccos stats have me now more often than not gaining on putting.
Before the long week of practice, I used to hit half a dozen before a round and hoped for the best. Now I spend way more time on the putting green than at the driving range.

I'd like to think I now have a solid pre-shot routine and have worked a lot on judging the weight of a putt. Get this right and you'll hole more

Youtube is your friend, and if that's too long for you, follow him on Instagram.

But really if you can't be arsed to read one chapter of a book that genuinely works, then you probably aren't that into golf :)

If it was that easy we'd all be pros! :p
In all seriousness, I actually read a couple of books on these areas that helped. Dan Grieve's 'The Three Releases' for chipping (backed up by his YouTube channel). Bob Rotella's 'Putting Out Of Your Mind' for putting. I've had plenty of ups and downs with putting but I've realised it's 90% what's in your head and only 10% technical. If you can convince yourself you're confident (even if you're lying to yourself to start with) and you know what you're doing, putt with that mindset, you will putt better. I was only half joking about buying a new putter though, I do think it's important to have a putter that you love, because that also breeds confidence and gives you a feeling of being happy you're putting rather than dreading it.

If you are 3 putting 6 time a round then you probably need to work on pace.

Measure 40’ and 20’ on your putting green and practice a lot from those distances.

Pitch High! Chip Low!
It's going to be all go!
And ball will fall,
right in the hole.
Hi ho, hi ho!

I'm off to practice with my V-Easy!
