I can't believe that no-one has suggested that the solution to this problem might be to make the (lace) hole smaller. Might help speed up play if everyone has dry feet.

Re the op and shoes needing redevelopment, puma cell fusions have a very complex tongue system that eliminated this issue while forgetting the need for kilties

Could be sealskinz, fantastic socks, they feel like neoprene, are very warm in winter and waterproof. Expensive at £30+ per pair but worth it.

Sorry, I bought them a long time ago but they didn't cost that much. Walkers use them so outdoor equipment shops should sell them. I found them through Google. They just get washed in the machine with the rest of the socks.

.... is it just me, or does it seem weird to solve leaking shoes by waterproof socks ??!? Last time my shoes leaked I either took them back as faulty, or they them out as they are out of warranty. Just don't have that problem from any recent shoes purchased.
