Was reading on twitter earlier that a club was offering a free junior membership with every full adult membership. That struck me as a great idea, it would attract more people in the 25-35 age group who have a family activity at no extra cost and gets kids interested at the same time. The lost revenue for any club through the free junior memberships also cannot be that large.

A different proposition I know but the Leicester Tigers give a free kids season ticket with every adult one and that has increased sales, created a great family atmosphere and has got more kids interested in playing. Schemes like this could help golf in a similar way.

Anyway, to me that is a good, sustainable, forward thinking idea.

We have this at my club and it's a great idea. It's only £40 for a junior membership and to be honest other than not letter her have a handicap they have had no problem letting my youngest golfing child play the course whenever she is with me even though she's not on my membership or has her own.

There are a couple of Clubs up here doing likewise, due to shortfall in Juniors at these clubs
Another I know of is charging £10 , for a Junior , if parent or grandparent is a Full Member

Great Ideas , IMO

Our club currently only charges the union dues of £5 for under 16s.

Was hoping to get my youngest lad interested last year but not to be.

my club does a £60 (was £35 last year but waiting list now) membership or play the par3 course free with a parent- ideal taking the wee fella out for 9 holes on a summers evening- creating memories and hopefully instilling a love for the fun part of the game.

Clubs have to be thinking this way, its only a decade and these 'seedlings' could be the 'Rorys' of the future, certainly the lifeblood of the club longer term

Our Junior membership is £180 - bit steep....
But...
We do 2 Family rates..
Basically, 1 free Junior per Full Adult Member.
So both Parents can join for £780 each and the 2 kids play for free.....
But we don't have a lot of Juniors.....
