My club have just launched a members benefits package, which I think is a great idea. These include:

-Free under 14s membership for a family member
-£10 for member and three guests each bank holiday Monday (stableford team event)
-10% off pro shop (over £50)

We are also getting vouchers for:

-3 free guest passes
-A golf day package (book for 24 people and get breakfast, golf and 2 course lunch for £40pp!)
-£50 voucher when you buy irons from the pro
-20% off Galvin Greens
-Free equipment check
-2 Main meals for £10
-Free appetiser with meal
-Free bottle of wine on your birthday
-Kids eat free

Some really forward-thinking promotions from my club. IMO this is completely necessary in today's competitive climate.

Slightly bragging-type-post, but genuinely interested in how this compares with your membership package...

we get give a sheet of paper every year on payment of the fee's which lists all our member benefits outside of our membership fee.

I think they must run out of ink in the printer when they printed mine;)

We get a booklet with vouchers that can be used, they include, discount on club branded clothes, complimentary buggies, free guest vouchers, discounted nights in the hotel, rounds at the sister course etc.

My biggest problem is that I forget about using them!

Sounds excellent. We get a half price lesson, 10% off of bar drinks, a friend can play twice at half the green fees, and a county card which allows us to play any course in Lincs for half price (once only). I think the club is crazy not giving members discount in the shop, as this would stop people shopping elsewhere.

Cracking deal!

This looks like the sort of thing our club needs to consider.

Its become the highest green fees in the local area so there is a fair bit of grumbling going on - not helped by recent weather closures etc.

I think they are in serious danger of an exodus this year unless they do something a bit like this.

I would add, we retain our existing benefits of 10% off drink prices, £10 guest fees, links to a number of reciprocal clubs and massive discounts off other James Braid courses (e.g. I'm playing Northumberland for £25 in May, instead of the usual £90).

Feel genuinely fortunate- particularly compared with our southern compatriots.

We get :
Insurance
Discounts off the hotel
Friends can play for 50% of the green fee once per month
Reciprocal discounts of between 30-50% off 30 other courses across the country

Then additional benefitsfrom club sponsors are :
Discounts on tyre changes from winter - summer - winter and car cleaning
15% discount at a beauty salon
10% discount at a couple of Spa hotels
10% off eye care

This is a great idea and something I wished my club would adopt. Simple fact is that with the price of pay and play golf going down and down, clubs do need more to make membership an attractive option. As things stands, clubs will soon be asking for a big chunk of cash off their members at a time when many will have not played for weeks due to poor weather. Some of those are going to start looking at the value of their membership, especially if they only play once or twice a week and do not have any social connections to the club.

I for one have played 16 holes since October due to a mix of injury, family issues and poor weather. That has helped me decide that full membership at my current club is not for me next year and so I will be joining the 9 hole course at Sudbrook as I simply have not missed it as much as I thought

My place is signed up to this: http://www.membersprivilege.co.uk/ some decent benefits available from plumbers and locksmiths to sports therapy etc.

I'm pretty sure that Big Sky Golf have gone bust but the benefits should still apply. Referring to the OP it's great to see there is some proactivity out there and some clubs actually valuing what they have rather than trying to attract new members all the time. Retention is just as important in these times. I really like the free membership to one under 14 family member , it makes so much sense. Our club flag seems to be permanently at half mast and we really struggle to fill at the lower end. A scheme such as this is a no brainer in my opinion.
