Well, either way, it's only 6 months. I have signed up for the rest of the year - until April at The Park (previously Tracey Park). http://www.theparkresort.com/golf-resort/golf-in-the-park/
It has 2 x 18s, both pretty good - not too long but well kept and a good test - narrow par 3's - water and trees everywhere - quite near home but with a nice feel and good views. They also have ladies' roll up twice a week on days that suit me, and the lady cap was v. welcoming on the phone.
Down side?
Well, don't be fooled by the website - it's a hotel venture that is known to be having money troubles (did small deal on the sub!) - the clubhouse currently in Portakabins awaiting money to rebuild. But they are actually quite nice portakabins!
I looked at some local members clubs, but couldn't make my mind up. I like the idea of 2 courses (like where I am now) which i hope means there will usually be tee-times when required. This place seems reasonably unstuffy, and if it doesn't suit I can walk away in April.
Bowed out of Woodlands today with a decent round and 40 Stableford points. Way to go!
will let you know how my first round goes at The Park.

Hmmm I know Tracey Park I think , i'm sure i've played there a couple of times but for the life of me I cant remember the courses

Anyhow enjoy your short time there

Hi AliB
glad to hear you have found somewhere new to call home, it looks quite a nice course.

I think their special offer for accommodation & golf looks good, I may enquire about a weekend as it's hubbies birthday next month and was thinking of treating him (us ;)) to a short getaway.
If you are around and free it would be could to finally catch up. If I book I'll let you know.

Parting gift of 40 points is some going, good luck at the new place and show em how it's done ;)

Course looks good. Don't think I would like to pay for every round and different prices for different times of the week though. Horses for courses (no pun intended)

Good to see you finish with a flourish and wonder if there was a little anger helping that total along. As long as the money worries don't mean the plug ever gets pulled on the new club enjoy it and mkae the best of the surroundings.

Money not a problem (ha, ha!) I mean I have paid up fornt for full membership for now. May pull back to 5 day after April - no, wouldn't want to pay every time.

Hi Barb
The Park is in a nice spot - very close to Bath, and teh accommodation looks nice (though I have never seen the inside). Maybe check out on Tripadvisor?
Let me know if you decide to come down - could be fun!
Cheers
