Had them for 13 months and yesterday they sprung a leak in the left bat.

Typical as they only have a 12 month warranty.....

Has anyone had any luck with FJ offering good will beyond the standard warranty?

The customer service I've had from Footjoy is one of the main reasons I buy their shoes. I treat my shoes very well and clean them after each time I play/use them, and dry them out using paper stuffed inside them, before polishing or waxing them.

The care may have some effect when returning shoes as generally I've never had any problems returning shoes and getting either brand new replacements or a significant contribution to a new pair. The fact that the shoes look as though they've been taken care of might make a difference.

In addition the pro seems to have a good relationship with the footjoy rep.

Cheers buddy.

The shoes look brand new to be honest and never go more than 2-3 rounds without a good scrub and wax (foot joys own clear wax).

I've lost a couple of cleats though but I know these particular shoes are known for that happening.

I've emailed their customer service explaining the situation.

Will see if I have any joy (no pun intended)

My FJ DNA has been starting to leak. FJ has asked me to take it to the shop, but havent had the time to do so yet...
I am told that FJ has good customer service, it might get tested this time.

Having said all that.. I must say, the DNA has perhaps been my best shoe ever..

Warranties or guarantees offered by manufacturers are not a rigid denial of responsibility outside of any time period they offer, the product, and especially footwear still has to hold up within a reasonable amount of time with an average usage.

Examples,

1yr guarantee, only worn on average once a week at most, visibly looked after and failed in 18mths, I think you'd have a case.

1yr guarantee, worn 3-4 times a week, hardly ever cleaned other than a courtesy wipe now & then, failed in 10mths, irrelevant of the guarantee period I as the seller wouldn't replace them and I'd send them to my supplier or manufacturer for them to decide.

My point is, guarantee periods are not a 100% fixed yes or no scenario whether your within them or not because there is an onus on the both the manufacturer to provide something that should not excessively wear out quickly and an onus on the buyer to maintain (look after) the product.

I've had mixed experiences of FJ customer service. I've worn their shoes for years and always look after them but, because I'm heavy on shoes, more often than not they don't last 12 months.

With only one exception they have replaced shoes no questions asked but two years ago a pair of AQL's split. They were returned by my pro to FJ and they refused to reimburse me or replace them, telling my I had "force" dried them using either a radiator or hair dryer.

I told them I had nothing of the sort but they were unmoved. My pro replaced them himself but it's the last time I had a pair. Sorry, but nobody accuses me of lying and then gets repeat custom.

Had my pair replaced. Waterproofing gave in after about 6-8 months. Had zero intention of owning another pair as though they felt fine to swing in, walking was another matter. Went over both ankles, four times in total, ending up in hospital once to check the swelling wasn't anything worse than some seriously strained ligaments. missed a few weeks of golf - not good.. Awful shoe, and glad to have been offered an agreeable alternative by our club pro.

Emailed footjoy and they said that even though the warranty had expired, they would be happy to "inspect" the shoes. They wanted to conduct this via Snainton, whom i originally purchased them from.

Ive email Snainton and forwarded them FJ's response.

Will see what the outcome is. Fingers crossed
