Footjoy AWD Contour Casual

After all this there was enough doubt in my mind to put my off spikeless for another year. The more reviews I read the more doubts I had. After having 4 pairs of shoes fail in 2 years I wanted to make sure that this next pair stood the test of time in terms of waterproofing and also grip. I do spend a bit of time in the semi and so perhaps spikeless are not the shoe for me as long as they remain the only pair that I will be using. I ended up going for a pair of Puma Spark 2 shoes from Clubhouse Golf. They come with a 2yr waterproof warantee, yup, read that again 2yrs, and were £50. They must be pretty confident about build quality if they give a 2yr warantee so I went down that road. I have seen people in Puma's recently and all were very complimentary about comfort as well so hopefully they will work out.

I think the AWD casuals look lovely shoes and would be ideal as a summer shoe. I'm just not yet 100% convinced of this style as an all year round shoe, yet. Perhaps they are not really meant to be to be fair.

I'm still wearing my dryjoy casuals quite happily, even with some of the nubs worn down on the heels.

I should have added that spikeless will be fine for some all year round depending on your course. I know the course (s) I am likely to play and there are parts where I worry the soles will get clagged and so grip reduces and the sole becomes smooth. It may not happen but as a one shoe person I could not take that risk. If I played a firm links course then I would be happy to go spikeless but I am now on a parkland course with occasional squidgy parts.

The 2yr warantee really did stand out as well to be fair. If the AWD Casuals offered that then I may still have gone for them but after having a lot of issues recently regarding waterproofing this really appealed.

I'll report back on the fitting. I had an online chat with a guy at Clubhouse and he described the fit as very similar to FJ. Other reviews mention good fitting for wide feet so that helped. I'll report back on that front once they arrived. I often struggle with tight shoes so I am hoping these could be a winner.

I also had a pair of Contour Casual shoes, but the stitching burst before I got a chance to test how waterproof they were. I swapped them for Adidas Adicross spikeless shoes and they've been great, but not as comfy as the FJs.
