Should we have a winter break?myself i dont think so.Just say we did after xmas for 3 weeks, then we get three weeks of the weather we are having, that would mean a 6 week break.Only one premiership game on today and can you believe it,it was up north.

Actually 2 PL games on today but your logic on the winter break is spot on. For the few days when the snow falls....and it can't be predicted.....its a waste trying to incorporate a few weeks break.

All the pitches apart from Blackpool would have been fine. It would have been down to spectator safety both in and around the stadiums and away fans travelling.

No winter break IMO.

Agree - no winter break. If it ain't broke, don't fix it! On a related point, will be interesting to see what the FA does if the Qatar World Cup is brought forward to the European winter. Would be great if all the European FAs said no thanks!!

Mighty Bluebirds called off today.

Don't think I could cope with an arranged break to be honest. The international breaks are painful enough.

I'd vote no!

I can see some merit in giving the players a break, especially in the coldest part of a season. It would give our top players a well earned chance to have a rest and must surely help protect from things like muscle strains and tears. However as we can't seem to predict if/when we'll get snow when would you factor it. Get it wrong and you may not start playing again until February, certainly in the lower leagues.

On balance leave it alone. As much as I'd like to stick two fingers up to FIFA there isn't a chance in the world that the English FA or any of their European contemporaries will do anything if their country qualifies and they move the competition to the winter

Sorry Homer, are you serious?
A squillion pounds a year, all summer off and they deserve a rest from 90 minutes of work a week. :D

For the money they get paid, I'd give them all a shovel each and get them to clear the pitches and car parks

Talk already of a backlog because of the weather and wait for it,shock horror, the possibility of teams having to play maybe as many as 5 games in a 2 week period to catch up.

Some gaffers already asking that the league get extended as this would be unfair to expect of the players!

Give me a break please! Well paid, allegedly fit sportsmen and 5 games in a fortnight too much!!?? Piss off,I really don't know how tennis players manage to cope eh?

Footballers = Bunch of overpaid, pampered fannies.

A well earned rest???!!

I say no winter break and also get rid of international breaks. After all, what is the point of a squad if you are not going to use it. Rugby arguably has more of an impact on the body yet there are no breaks. Clubs are expected to manage a squad that can cope when players are on international duty and that period gives young players a chance and also some of the lesser clubs can pick up valuable points. Keeps the league that bit tighter.
