As a kid my parents lived in a valley in Devon and when the river broke its banks we opened the front and back doors and watched the water flow in the front and through the house.

Now I always check for flood risk when I buy a house.

Any of you caught by the current floods have my sympathy and sincere good wishes - but I doubt many of you have the time to read the Forum at the moment.

Hoping everyone in the forum community and their families are safe and well. It's getting wider spread and more rain due. Not good. I'm very lucky to be a long way from any large river system and my only threat would be the drains getting blocked and back filling but so far so good

we are only a few hundred yards from the Ness, it was at its highest Ive ever seen on Christmas day, luckily it dropped by the next night.

heart goes out to anyone effected by the current floods
