.....took the plastic off the new toy yesterday to play 13 holes. Titleist 915 D2, got fitted for it at a local range and was hitting it great there with some good numbers on trackman.

Stand up on the first yesterday - bang - right out the middle and the longest I've ever hit on that particular hole.

I then proceeded to hit every other drive low and left....aaarrrghhhh!!!!

Not duck hook kinda left but really low and very much pulled to the left.

The europhoria of the first didn't last long...! I was hitting everything else great but low pulls with my new purchase were not making me feel good!!

Think it's the person holding the club to be fair...!!! ;)

This hence the £40 Mizuno from evilbay in my bag.

I did almost the same with a new club I bought a couple of weeks ago.
Picked up a bargain from the pro shop at Cooden, Adams "New Idea" 22 hybrid.
Looks lovely behind the ball.
Decided to give it it's first bash up our 6th hole that day, hit it beautifully bearing in mind the wet conditions. Couldn't have hit it any better if I'm honest.
On the few times I've tried to use it since, I've topped it or fatted it every bloody time.
Why can't I hit fecking hybrids????

I think when you get fitted for clubs you should go back three times, once full of enthusiasm for the game, once neutral and then once hungover. Average out that lot and you should have more reliable stats

I empathise entirely. I can go out some days and mine go like a dream. Others I can't make a clean connection for love nor money. My issue is I struggle with anything longer than a 6 iron, which I hit about 160 in the summer. I need my hybrids for distances between 160-185, my max, and those are common second shots into par 4's on my course bearing in mind the length of my drives or to set up a short shot into a green on a par 5. I have to persist but blimey is it frustrating.

All me, not the club so the frustration is my ineptitude and lack of consistency. On a good day the best club in the bag, on a bad day.........No middle ground

I know that feeling but fear not, it just boils down to trying too hard to replicate that first boomer and getting too quick and out of synch. GO back to what you've done before and swing smoothly and your new toy will behave. That or I'll have it for £50 ;)

I agree with that, perhaps I should go to any future fitting with a kicking hangover as that it how I play a large number of my Saturday morning rounds.

I had the same trouble with my taylormade rbz stage 2 driver I got a few months ago could never get on with it so I never take it out of the bag lol had a mad idea 2 weeks ago thinking maybe I could cut it down (im only 5'5) so I thought what the hell I don't use it so may as well give it ago so I cut 2 and a half inches off the butt end and guess what ..................................
I love teeing of with it now gettng about 235/240 yards long and straight best club in my bag now lol
