I went today to The Kings Links Golf Centre in Aberdeen to try out some new 3 woods and get fitted for one.

They were brilliant, and for £20 (which can be put towards the purchase of the club anyway) it was so worth it!

I just loved the fact that I could see the ball flight with all the different shafts/heads/lofts… and then also to have the stats backed up to on the computer.

They were true gents too, gave me several clubs to try before my fitting, with free range balls. Tried the R11, G20 and 910f and 910fd…

In the end I settled on the 910f with a black diamana ahina 82g stiff shaft. Felt and looked amazing, and the stats weren't too shabby either, with the carry averaging at 230 which for a 3 wood I was very happy with indeed!

All in all a great fun experience with the added bonus that I know that I have the right club in my hand! :)

what was the stats like and flight between the two titleist

Very similar to be honest, if anything the fd stats were better, but it didn't feel quite right for me that's all. I found the f had a bit more zip on it at impact… very technical!

I have just got the same three wood Stef. Beautiful club, sits so nicely behind the ball, and doesn't go too badly either.;)

Don't say that, i've got to wait another week for it to come into stock… :p it is going to be a very long week! :D

How did you find the ahina shaft? I'm looking at it in the 910H. I've been told its pretty stiff but I've not been able to find anywhere that stocks it.

I was trying it against the rip shaft and they were very similar… but had a lovely feel! the aldila kept the spin a wee bit lower that was all

I tried it against the kai'li when I bought mine. The ahina with it being heavier launched quite a bit lower for me and felt like I had to hit it hard to get the best results. The kai'li I ended up with is much easier for me to get a nice flight. For comparison purposes, my driver ss is 100-105.

I have the 910 with the Rip, it fairly flies. I think I'm going to chop an inch off the shaft though it feels too long and when I grip it I've got about an inch and a half sticking out.

well done, paying for a fitting I think is the way to go- bit more attention and focus. I only say this as my 2 'free' fittings recommended clubs totally unsuited to me but ok stats, I'd rather pay and get excellent stats and also the feel that the combination is correct.

Sounds like a cracking session. I am sorely tempted to give another fitting a go now I've improved the ball striking enormously. Thing is I'm happy with the irons and its only the woods and hybrid I'd want to change. I might wait for the I20's and RBZ to come out and give both of them a whirl

The Kings links is a bit far from Shropshire for a fitting lol!
The boys there are great and it has no brand affiliation either, I've tried out loads there in the past and had no pressure,
Guess the wind was blowing out to sea or flat calm,I've hit my driver there and had it carry 150 into a hoolie lol!

Did it still get 'up'?. I'm a fairly spinny player so don't really mind a low launch. My SS is only slighter faster than yours.
Damm I need to try the bleeding thing.

It still got up, but not as high as the Kai'li, and needed a little bit more of a faster swing than I wanted to give it. The Kai'li I could swing nice and easy and get a good result.

The good ones with the Ahina went further than the good ones with the Kai'li (210 vs 205 ish), but the worse ones were far worse (170 vs 185 ish), if that makes sense?
